Tim Miles has been fired. On Tuesday afternoon Nebraska Athletic Director Bill Moos held a press conference to answer questions about the state of the basketball program. There were five things that stood out from that press conference.

1

Fred Hoiberg isn't a done deal

While most people have thought that Fred Hoiberg was almost in place before the firing of Tim Miles went down, it turns out that reporting wasn't entirely accurate. Moos said that he doesn't have an announcement to make on Miles' replacement just yet. He added he doesn't want the search to take longer than two weeks.

2

There are three or our top candidates for the job

Underlining that Fred Hoiberg might not be the guy, Moos said there are three or four candidates he's talked to but he doesn't expect the position to be filled by the end of the week. That's certainly different than what we've been hearing for the last few days.

3

Offense is going to be key

One of the more interesting comments was Moos' take on what he wants to see the program focus on moving forward. The AD wants to see a team that has an offense first mentality.

4

Stability and consistency weren't there

Moos made similar comments to this when he only gave Miles a year extension. It seems as though the writing has been on the wall for a while now. Miles was going to have to prove he deserved the job, not the other way around. He didn't.

5

More firings coming?

One really interesting aspect was the talk of potential changes in the AD still coming. One notable person who is still standing for now is Marc Boehm. He's overseen the program for years now. Some think he's holding the program back.

6

Breaking open the bank

This is the biggest key to Fred Hoiberg or whoever else gets the job. The University must be willing to pay "big boy" salaries. It appears it is.
