Tim Miles has been fired. On Tuesday afternoon Nebraska Athletic Director Bill Moos held a press conference to answer questions about the state of the basketball program. There were five things that stood out from that press conference.
Fred Hoiberg isn't a done deal
While most people have thought that Fred Hoiberg was almost in place before the firing of Tim Miles went down, it turns out that reporting wasn't entirely accurate. Moos said that he doesn't have an announcement to make on Miles' replacement just yet. He added he doesn't want the search to take longer than two weeks.
Bill Moos says the timeline for hiring a new coach will take 7 to 14 days.

There are three or our top candidates for the job
Underlining that Fred Hoiberg might not be the guy, Moos said there are three or four candidates he's talked to but he doesn't expect the position to be filled by the end of the week. That's certainly different than what we've been hearing for the last few days.
Moos says he'd be surprised if it took less than 7 days. Said "No" when asked if he's close to having found a new head coach, which will make the wheels turn a bit in people's heads. Says he's talked to 3 or 4 coaches. Says Hoiberg is one of them.

Offense is going to be key
One of the more interesting comments was Moos' take on what he wants to see the program focus on moving forward. The AD wants to see a team that has an offense first mentality.
"Entertain the fanbase while you are building the program. ... I believe in defense, but we gotta get the ball out. In the game today, the ones that win are lighting that scoreboard up." Bill says he has talked to three or four candidates already. Has gauged Fred's interest.

Stability and consistency weren't there
Moos made similar comments to this when he only gave Miles a year extension. It seems as though the writing has been on the wall for a while now. Miles was going to have to prove he deserved the job, not the other way around. He didn't.
Bill Moos said he was looking for “stability and consistency” when he renewed Miles’ contract last year. #Huskers

More firings coming?
One really interesting aspect was the talk of potential changes in the AD still coming. One notable person who is still standing for now is Marc Boehm. He's overseen the program for years now. Some think he's holding the program back.
Moos said it will depend on the next coach as to whether there will be any future changes on the basketball side within the athletic department.

Breaking open the bank
This is the biggest key to Fred Hoiberg or whoever else gets the job. The University must be willing to pay "big boy" salaries. It appears it is.
Moos said Nebraska “can be competitive” with its coaching salaries.
