Katy Perry and Taylor Swift have been known for their ongoing feud. According to Good Morning America, the feud has been going on for four years. However, Taylor Swift was shocked to find a present in her dressing room on May 8, 2018. Swift posted a video of her gift on Instagram in the afternoon with the caption "Thank you Katy." However, this is not the first time Perry has apologized to Swift. Back in 2017, Perry opened up to ABC News about the feud by saying, "I forgive her, and I’m sorry for anything I ever did, and I hope the same from her ...

I love her, and I want the best for her. And I think she’s a fantastic songwriter." But what caused the feud in the first place?

The Feud

Katy Perry and Taylor Swift have not said a lot about what caused the feud. According to US Weekly, Swift has been trying to stay away from the drama, which is why she has not opened up about it. However, according to People Music, Swift told Rolling Stone that her song "Bad Blood" "was about another female artist who tried to 'sabotage an entire arena tour.'" Yet, Taylor Swift has never made any more comments on who the other female artist is.

Katy Perry has been more vocal about the feud and has offered numerous apologies. According to People Music, Perry opened up, last year, about the feud in an interview for The Thrive Global Podcast.

Perry told the Thrive CEO Arianna Huffington, “Maybe I don’t agree with everything she does and she doesn’t agree with everything I do, but I just really, truly want to come together in a place of love and forgiveness and understanding and compassion." However, it was not until Perry told James Corden on his Late Late Show her version of the feud.

Apparently, the feud began over backup dancers, and Perry claims it was Swift who started the feud. Perry states she let three backup dancers go on tour with Taylor Swift, while Perry was "not on a record cycle." Perry goes on to explain that she told the dancers to put "a thirty-day contingency" in their contracts so that when Perry needed them, in perhaps a year, they would be able to get out of the contracts and tour with Perry.

After Perry sent them messages about her upcoming tour a year later, the dancers talked to the manager and got fired. When Perry tried to contact Swift about it, she did not respond. Swift has never commented on her side of the story.

Katy Perry's present to Taylor Swift

Even though Katy Perry has made apologies over the feud in the past, this time Taylor Swift has actually recognized Perry's apology. The apology comes at a good time, right before Swift starts her new tour. Swift sounds pleasantly surprised, in the video, she posted on Instagram, by the peace offering Perry sent her. In the video she posted, Swift says "This means so much to me." It was reported by Good Morning America, that some words in the handwritten letter say "Hey Old Friend - I've been doing some reflecting on past communications and hurt feelings between us..." A dog sticker can be seen stuck on the envelope of Perry's letter.

An olive branch, which is a symbol of peace, was also included in Perry's gift to Swift. Hopefully, this generous gift from Perry, and Swift's genuine thankfulness, will put the feud to an end.
