Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attended the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto; however, it was not the official appearance that was reported and widely expected several weeks ago.

Although the couple was in the stands, Prince Harry was seated in the VIP area, beside US First Lady Melania Trump, and near Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Meghan Markle, on the other hand, was seated few rows back -- with her friend Mark Anderson.

The prince also delivered a speech during the opening of the Invictus Games where he told the attendees he wanted the world to draw inspiration from the spirit of those in uniform.

Prince Harry is the founder and patron of the annual games – where wounded, injured, and sick servicemen and women from 15 countries compete in 12 sporting events for over eight days.

Engagement rumors

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were the subjects of many media speculations weeks leading to the games with many believing that an engagement announcement is coming very soon. There were rumors that Markle had already meet Queen Elizabeth II and that the prince reportedly asked permission from the British monarch to marry the “Suits” actress.

Several days ago, Woman’s Day published a story claiming that the 36-year-old actress sent Kate Middleton a diamond bracelet gift accompanied by a note requesting the Duchess of Cambridge to be her maid of honor.

Harry proposed last August

US Weekly reported that the fifth in line to the British throne proposed to Markle while they were vacationing in Botswana last August.

Markle also had an interview with Vanity Fair where she spoke about her relationship with the British prince. The actress told the magazine that they are a couple in love and that she hopes people will understand that “this is our time.” “It’s part of what makes it so special, that it’s just ours,” the “Suits” star added.

The couple in Toronto

Prince Harry is expected to be in Toronto for the whole duration (September 22-30) of the Invictus Games, according to an official announcement by Kensington Palace. The 33-year-old prince is also expected to meet some of the participants, watch the games, and deliver another message at the closing ceremony.

Apart from the Games, Prince Harry is also expected to visit a hospital in Toronto and attend few more events. Markle, on the other hand, is staying in Toronto longer than the prince since she is filming her scenes for the tv series “Suits.

So, the possibility still exists that the couple will officially appear for the first time in public.
