Android One was announced at the Google I/O event held in 2014. At that time Google announced the new platform as specifically designed to be housed on entry-level smartphones for countries where the consumers did not have enough money to spend on mid-range or high-end premium smartphones. The main idea behind its launch was to introduce Google’s Android OS into every market around the world, regardless of the economic conditions in those countries. However, a new rumor now claims that Google will soon launch an Android One device in the United States as well.

What is leading to the Android One smartphone launch in US?

The United States is neither a developing country and nor are the people here unable to afford mid-range or premium handsets released by companies. However, Google is still planning to bring in the new Android device into the country. One may wonder why the Mountain View-based company has decided to take such a step.

Android One has recently evolved into the mid-range handsets as well. The stock Android systems found in Android One devices makes it apt for receiving and installing timely system updates, without any unwanted delays. Google may be planning to not only include the Android One OS on some of the lower mid-range handsets, but may be also thinking of doing the same for upper mid-range smartphones.

Which device will launch with the Android One OS in the US?

A few days back, noted tipster, Evan Blass posted a leaked picture of the back side of a device sporting the Android One logo. Although the front face of the handset was out of view, the rear resembled that of the Moto X4, which was launched recently by the Lenovo-owned company.

So, Google may be debuting Android One in the US aboard a special variant of the Moto X4 handset.

Rumors are also running rampant that Motorola will launch the Android One version of Moto X4 in the United States. This release will make sense, especially considering the anticipation for the Moto X4 device. The smartphone is not a lower mid-range handset and sports some interesting specs and features.

A rumor also states that the Android One version of Moto X4 will be offered to Google MVNO Fi subscribers.

The Moto X4 will sport a 5.2-inch Full HD LCD display, which will be powered by the Snapdragon 630 chipset. The handset comes with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of native storage that can be expanded up to 256 GB. The handset sports a dual camera setup, which includes a 12-megapixel sensor and an 8-megapixel lens as well.
