The Kyrie Irving burden of the Cleveland Cavaliers has finally reached a conclusion. The premiere point guard was traded to the Boston Celtics on Sunday. The Cavs will receive Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and the 2018 New Jersey Nets first round draft pick in return for Kyrie. It can be recalled that Kyrie requested to be traded to another team last July. He wanted to be out of LeBron James’ shadow and be the focal point of a new team.

Fans are going crazy

For the first time in NBA history, fans will witness LeBron James and Kyrie Irving playing on opposite sides.

The Cavs will host the Celtics on NBA opening night at the Quickens Loan Arena. The game is expected to break all records for viewership of an opening game in NBA history. It might even surpass the Game 7 record of the Cavs vs Warriors 2016 Championship series.

After being one of the best Batman and Robin tandems in NBA in recent memory, LeBron James and Kyrie Irving will become fierce competitors and play against each other. Fans are drooling to see the sight of Irving guarding James and vice versa. The idea of the two players trading baskets and fighting loose balls against each other is mind-blowing. A fight between the two players during the game would be the best highlight of the confrontation.

After 3 years of partnership, which was capped by a championship, seeing these players wearing opposing uniforms in a game is akin to stepping into the twilight zone.

Carmelo Anthony willing to play for Cavs?

The original pronouncement of Carmelo Anthony was, he will be willing to waive his no-trade clause agreement with the New York Knicks if his final destination will either be the Cleveland Cavaliers or the Houston Rockets.

His friendship with LeBron James of the Cavs and Chris Paul of the Rockets is widely known in the organization. However, after the Kyrie Irving drama exploded, he said he does not want to be a part of it. He would not want to go to Cleveland as a trade for Kyrie. His only option, for now, is the Houston Rocket Franchise.

The question is if Carmelo Anthony will now be willing to play for Cleveland, now that the Kyrie Irving drama is settled.

Melo will definitely be a big contributor for the Cavs' title run this season. He will be a big help to James, Love, and Thomas, and may even possibly dethrone the Warriors this season. This can change the NBA landscape for years to come. LeBron might even change his mind about leaving the team if they win a crown this year.
