With the trailer for the new Transformers film, "The Last Knight," there was a lot of initial moaning from individuals. After the last film was released and did the worst at the box office compared to all of its predecessors, many just wanted the series to die down.

However, as more trailers have been released, and more information about the film has been given, it seems that the latest film in the series may be taking a step in the right direction. The writers at Paramount pictures were the ones that created the story for the movie, and it seems that they are attempting to create a different story as opposed to just explosions and endless action.

The world is at war with the transformers

At the end of the last film, "Age of Extinction," Optimus Prime returns to his homeworld to see what caused all of the war and chaos between the Autobots and Decepticons. In his absence, the world has begun to go to war with the transformers, since they no longer trust them. Mark Whalberg is reprising his role as Cade Yeager in the film, and he is working with several of the Autobots, including Bumblebee.

Once Optimus Prime returns to Earth, it appears that this is where the story begins to take a turn for the heroes. It appears that he has been indoctrinated by the creators of his world, and he is now pure evil. The trailer makes sure the viewer knows exactly how much Optimus has changed when he seemingly destroys Bumblebee.

Also, it appears that Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson are going to be reprising their roles from the first film.

It seems that it is going to take a lot of help for the threat of Optimus Prime to be stopped.

Changing the style of the films

As stated above, it seems that the movie will have a more complex story arc than the previous films. Michael Bay appears to be allowing the writers at Paramount to have their way with the movie, possibly because of how poorly the last film did at the box office.

This seems to be a good choice because the film is moving in a direction that could reignite the fire that films previously had.

Bringing back fan favorites, such as Josh Duhamel, was a good way to create attention as it shows that characters have the ability to come back into the fold of the story. However, with each new film, it seems that the origin of the Transformers on Earth gets more complicated.

In this newest film, it appears that the Transformers had an appearance in the time of King Arthur and his knights.

While this is confusing, since it does not seem to follow the timeline, it also creates interest by setting up a new plot device.

Even though the films have been dwindling in excitement in the past, it seems that the Paramount is attempting to rekindle the films with this movie and a Bumblebee movie spin-off.

The film will be released in theaters on June 21, 2017, and the potential spin-off and sequel will be following in 2018 and 2019.
