Evans said Saturday that they were fortunate none of their officers was injured in the incident. Reportedly as they opened the door of the penthouse, shots were immediately fired by the suspect. Evans added that Teixeira was a man who had just killed two people and that he had nothing to lose by shooting at the officers.

Message scrawled in blood on the wall of the couple’s penthouse

According to police, it is not clear how the suspect managed to access the building, or what pushed him to brutally kill the couple.

However an official source told the Boston Globe that the suspect had scrawled a message of retribution across the bloody wall, but no further details were given.

As reported by the New York Daily News, two weeks prior to the murders, when Teixeira was released from prison, he reportedly tried to contact his ex-girlfriend as he wanted to apologize for his bank robbing spree. He told her that he is not a good person, but went on to say he would never hurt anyone.
