The condition in Syria is deteriorating day by day and the constant war and attacks are acting as a hindrance for the kids residing there. For the betterment of their future and to give them an opportunity to study, george clooney and amal clooney have announced that they will help 3,000 Syrian refugee children to go to school this year in Lebanon. They are collaborating with UNICEF to help these children. There are more than 200,000 Syrian kids who are heavily affected due to civil war in the country. And this is not the first time that the couple is doing something on the humanitarian grounds.
Both are well-known for their charitable activities.
The Clooney Foundation collaboration with other organizations
With an aim to give these children a bright future, the Clooney Foundation of Justice has teamed up with giant companies like Google and HP. Now, all the organizations to help the United Nation's children agency and the Lebanese ministry of education for opening seven schools for these Syrian refugee children, so that they can receive a much-needed education. The Clooney Foundation was formed in the end of 2016. The main aim of the trust is to provide education to the children. Apart from this, the foundation has done many charities and events in the past, with this being the major one.
The situation in Syria
Currently, Syria is suffering from civil war. The country became a battle ground since 2010. Powerhouses like the US and Russia have a presence in Syria and are fighting against ISIS. Millions of people have been affected by this war, millions have become refugees and have had to flee their homes. Lebanon has more than a million Syrian refugees and out of which 500,000 are children.
Many reports suggest that more than 50,000 people have been killed in these conflicts. ISIS has been in the country for more than 4-years and has captured many parts of the country. On the other hand, the neighborhood of the country is also a very unstable, which is also causing the violence and chaos.
Oscar-winning actor George Clooney and international human rights lawyer Amal Clooney believe that the children should be educated and should be given a better future to live.
