Going to Disneyland in California or Disney World in Florida was the quintessential vacation as a kid and the nightmare of every parent who would have to wait in line with their kid for who knows how long in most likely mediocre weather. With Google Street View adding the famous Disney parks hopefully, parents will be able to hold off on that vacation until little Sarah grows out of her “Frozen” phase.
Be Our Guest from your home
That’s right Disney fans; Google has added eleven maps plus extra spots that include restaurants and hotels to Google Street View. The main eleven attractions are Epcot, Pandora-The World of Avatar, Magic Kingdom Park, Disney Springs, Disney California Adventure Park, Disneyland Park, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, the Downtown Disney District, and Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park.
The Blue Bayou, the Lego Store, all three floors of World of Coca-Cola, Mark Twain Riverboat, Plaza Inn, and the Royal Hall are only some of the many minor attractions that are also included in Google Street View.
However, if you’re looking to experience rides, you’re out of luck. Google Street View is limited to the parks and restaurants…so anyone looking to ride Space Mountain or the Tower of Terror for free will be highly disappointed. There are also no photos of inside attractions as well, a blow for those who always wanted to get inside Andy’s room at Toy Story Mania.
Some of the photos are outdated like pictures from Epcot and the Magic Kingdom which are both from 2016. A small gripe when considering you’re basically visiting the most magical place on Earth from your home in your pajamas.
An Economic Choice
Google Street View hasn’t only provided us with a beautiful experience, it has also provided us an economical vacation…two words that rarely seem together these days.
In February this year, Disney announced they would be increasing ticket prices to reduce overcrowding. Disneyland’s peak period one day tickets saw the highest price hike going from $124 to $135. The regular ticket was increased to $117 from its previous cost of $110 while its value tickets remain 97 dollars.
Meanwhile, in Florida all three tiers of tickets at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom tickets saw an increase; regular tickets have gone from $115 to $119, peak tickets from $124 to $129, and value tickets from $107 to $109. These prices will most likely decrease park attendance which will be a plus for the stressed-out Disney employees but a bummer for die-hard Disney addicts who have never gotten to experience the joy of Disney.
This might’ve killed the dream of going to Disney for people young and old, but Google Street View is saving the day by adding these maps. Plus, it’s a better alternative for those armchair travelers who can afford it but don’t want to go through the hassle of actually traveling.
While Google currently has no plans to include international locations or other parks at the moment, maybe in the future more photos will be added so more people can experience that Disney magic. If they do, hopefully, they’ll include pictures from new parks.
