The smartphone industry is going to be flooded with major flagship launches in the next couple of months. While the rumor-mill has been churning away information regarding these two devices for the longest time possible; there haven’t been any details regarding Microsoft’s Surface phone as of yet. The last rumor that surfaced online was earlier this year, which suggested that the device will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 system-on-chip(SOC). However, a new patent, filed by Microsoft, seems to hint towards a major feature set to arrive in Surface Phone.

Company on Surface Phone

As reported by WCCFtech, citing information interpreted through the latest patent, the Surface Phone is going to sport a foldable body, which will further serve the function of an antenna. This, as reported by Express, seems to be an addition made by Microsoft with the objective of ensuring that the network on the device remains uninterrupted due to the unusual design of the device. Readers are advised to note that the Surface Phone is not a traditional “Flip” device, but rather, a foldable smartphone that comes equipped with two displays and bodies. Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella, had promised that the company will be launching the “ultimate mobile device” that will be unlike any other mainstream device that already exists in the market.

It seems like the company will be standing true to the words spoken by Nadella if this actually turns out to be true.

More regarding Surface Phone

Previous rumors regarding the Phone have suggested that the device is going to run on the mobile version of Windows 10. Microsoft might end up launching two variants of its Surface Phone – one that is powered by the Snapdragon 835 processor, and the other one, powered by the Windows 10 software system.

The device is also expected to come out with a Surface Pen, which will allow users to write, draw, and sketch on the display – similar to the way Samsung’s Note series works. Microsoft will also be laying special emphasis on the camera of the device, however; it remains to be seen whether the device adapts to the mainstream trend of a dual rear camera setup, or comes up with something unique all its own.

The release date of the for the phone is still unknown, but since the company has been working on the device for over two years now, they should be able to introduce it by the end of this year. Stay tuned for more.
