Nokia has made a return in the smartphone market earlier this year with the release of Nokia 3 and Nokia 6. The company is trying to regain the market share in each segment (Entry level, mid-range and high-end) of the smartphone market. As the year is about to end, one would assume that the company might have wrapped up by now. According to Tech Radar, Nokia is yet to launch another high-end smartphone. Nokia 9 is expected to be even bigger than Nokia 8 in terms of display size.

Everything you need to know

Well-known leaker (@OnLeaks) for CompareRaja has posted fresh images of an unidentified handset.

The leaker claims that the device-in-question is none other than Nokia’s very own 9. The smartphone is showcased in the form of computer-aided designs (CAD) files. On the basis of these leaks, the smartphone can be seen carrying a curved front and rear panel. This is exactly the kind found on Samsung’s Galaxy S7 Edge, which was introduced back in 2016. It is uncertain what material will be used in the making of Nokia 9. According to Tech Radar, previous speculations have claimed that Nokia but opt for a complete glass bearing.

The alleged renders reveal that the fingerprint scanner will be located on the rear panel of the handset. Nokia 9 is also shown to carry a single rear camera setup with dual-lens.

In terms of dimensions, the smartphone seems to measure 140.9 x 72.9 x 7.5mm. In comparison to Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (which the device is being compared to), it is slightly shorter. This can also mean that Nokia plans on packing smaller bezels to its high-end smartphone, especially on the top and bottom regions of the front panel.

The phone might also feature USB-C Type.

Specs and features details

Previously, it has been speculated that Nokia 9 will pack a bezel-free design. The latest set of CAD renders also reveal the absence of a 3.5mm headphone jack. It appears that Nokia has decided to follow Apple’s and Google’s footsteps into eliminating the feature.

Apple’s iPhone 7 series (and after) and Google’s Pixel 2 series do not carry the 3.5mm headphone jack. Other speculations – mentioned by The Verge – have stated that Nokia 9 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 system-on-chip (similar to Nokia 8 smartphone). The device will go on to offer 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt memory. The camera system on the handset will be powered by Carl Zeiss. The device is expected to compete with Samsung Galaxy S8 and Apple iPhone 8.
