Google will hold an event on October 4.The company is expected to unveil its Pixel successor line-up. According to India Today, the teaser pictures of the phone appears on the roads in India. As noted by Tech Radar, rumors and speculations about the handsets have been around since the beginning of this year. Google’s Pixel 2 line-up is going to take on Apple, Samsung, and OnePlus flagship products.
Release date and price
Google launched the Pixel smartphones last year. Therefore, Google was expected to follow the same tradition this year too. When they announced that they are going to hold an event on October 4, it was immediately assumed that the event will facilitate this purpose. The firm has already sent out media invites for the event – scheduled to start at 9 AM (PST) in San Francisco. The company hasn’t made mention of the exact availability and shipping date. Given Google’s reputation, they won’t delay the launch date. Tech Radar quoted one source as claiming that Google Pixel 2 might cost around $649.
The old one was priced at the same price – therefore, it is safe to assume that there aren’t too many changes that will arrive in its successor.
Display, screen, and design
The Google Pixel 2 is expected to feature a 4.97-inch screen with a flat resolution of 1080 pixels. The firm has apparently entered a collaboration with LG. This move is believed to be motivated by Google’s intentions of using Oled Display panels for its 2017 flagship. The handset has been tipped to include something called the “Vivid Colors” mode. Google Pixel 2 will pack the fingerprint scanning option of its rear panel – right next to the camera module. Moreover, it may boast of water-resistant capabilities. Google is expected to follow Apple’s footsteps and eliminate the 3.5mm headphone jack altogether.
Processor, battery, and camera
The smartphone was rumored to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 836 chipset. If this turns out to be true, Google’s Pixel 2 will probably feature Snapdragon 835. This processor has shown up in the majority of the flagship smartphones this year. The handset will include a single rear camera setup with a 12-megapixel sensor. This will further be accompanied with a 7-megapixel front shooter. As for its battery, the smartphone will house a 2,770mAh battery and run on Android Oreo directly out of the box. The phone will compete with the likes of Samsung Galaxy S8 and Apple iPhone 8.
