With the recent launch of Apple’s highly anticipated iPhone X, the handset competition continues to heat up. Samsung is expected to reveal its Galaxy S9 sometime early next year.

2018 is anticipated to be an even bigger year with the South Korean tech company’s Galaxy S9 launching. The new concept video (from the YouTube channel DBS Designing) of the mobile device highlights its top cutout as well as its all-screen front.

The concept video also showcased the handset’s virtual navigation buttons.

The front panel of the Galaxy S9 has a cutout for its iris scanner, front camera, and ear speaker. The new concept video appears to be inspired by Apple’s 10th-year-anniversary smartphone.

The concept video showed that the Galaxy S9 will have its predecessor’s glass and metal design. The smartphone will feature an OLED screen with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a QHD pixel resolution, Gizbot reported. The fingerprint sensor of the handset will be integrated into its display.

The concept video of the Samsung Galaxy S9 also claimed that the smartphone will run on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.

The mobile device will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor, according to Tweak Town.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 will come along with a rear dual camera setup, consisting of two 18MP sensors. The smartphone also boasts a front dual camera system, consisting of two 13MP sensors.

Release date

XDA Developers made it known that the S9 will have a model number SM-G96, while the S9 Plus will roll out with a model number SM-G965. The tech company is expected to unveil its latest smartphone in January 2018 and will hit the shelves in February. The OLED panels for the upcoming mobile device will be ready by November 2017.

The Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are expected to feature curved Infinity Displays.

The smaller model will have a 5.8-inch screen, while the larger variant will boast a 6.2-inch screen.

The handset will also feature a 3600mAh battery, wireless charging support, 6GB of RAM and a 128GB of built-in storage. The handset will feature IP68 certification for dust and water resistance. The device will be available in different color options - Midnight Black, Deep Sea Blue, Maple Gold and Orchid Gray.

Price of the device

The company is yet to announce the official price of the device, but it is expected to have a $940 price tag. The tech company will launch its latest smartphone to go head to head with Apple’s newly-launched iPhone X.
