Samsung last month launched its flagship Galaxy Note 8 phablet. Given that the firm had already introduced Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus in February, one would think that they were done with smartphone launches this year. The firm surprised them all by expanding its Galaxy family with another handset – C8. The handset falls in the mid-range category but comes with above-average specifications. It is also the third Samsung-branded smartphone to feature a dual rear camera setup.
Here are the specs and the features
As for the specifications, the Galaxy C8 features a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED full HD display with 1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution and an aspect ratio of 16:9.
According to a report by Sam Mobile, the handset is powered by MediaTek Helio P20 processor. The company has introduced two storage variants with Galaxy C8: one that carries 3GB of RAM along with 32GB of inbuilt storage and the other that features 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage. The model features a dual rear camera setup placed vertically, with a 13-megapixel and a 5-megapixel sensor. This is topped up by a dual-LED flash right below the camera module.
According to a report by Android Headlines, the smartphone is home to a decent 3,000mAh non-removable battery with MediaTek’s Pump Express 3.0 fast charging technology onboard. The handset runs on Android 7.1.1. Nougat OS. The company will probably provide Android Oreo towards the end of this month.
On the connectivity front, the device offers dual-SIM card option, GPS, 4G LTE and Bluetooth 4.2. The USB Type-C port is placed on the bottom side of the device.
Bixby powered smartphone
Samsung introduced its propriety version of digital voice assistant, Bixby with Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. All the smartphones that were launched after that supported Bixby.
It is pretty natural for Galaxy C8 to come with the support for this. Unlike other Samsung-branded devices, Galaxy C8 does not feature a physical button dedicated to Bixby. The users may have to command the AI from within the smartphone manually. The starting price of Galaxy C8 is approximately $307. It is only available in the Chinese market as of now.
The company might bring the device to international markets soon, as they have mentioned no specific date. There is also a possibility that the company might keep Galaxy C8 exclusive to china. Overall, the device is a good choice for the customers seeking for the mid-range smartphone.
