Samsung is expected to roll out the Android 8.0 Oreo update to many of its smartphones. Nonetheless, the South Korean tech titan is yet to announce a list containing the names of the mobile devices to receive Android’s latest version.
In any case, Samsung will definitely update the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus smartphones to Android 8.0 Oreo before any other handsets of the company. According to SamMobile, the tech company is already working on the update for the mobile devices.
As reported by Phone Radar, the Android 8.0 Oreo version of the Galaxy S8 will be G950FXXU1BQI1, while the G955FXXU1BQI1 version will be in the S8 Plus.
However, Samsung has yet to announce the official release date of the update. The Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus users could expect to receive the Oreo update in the coming months. After the S8 series, the company is anticipated to roll out the update to its newly-launched Galaxy Note 8 phablet.
Update’s beta testing program
There’s a possibility that the company could soon start the update’s beta testing program similar to the closed-beta program of the OnePlus company. Samsung had the same launch strategy for its S7 and S7 Edge smartphones.
Samsung released the Galaxy S8 series with Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box. The mobile devices arrived with several new features, such as Bixby AI personal assistant, the company’s own Experience UI as well as On-screen Navigation Buttons.
Huawei, OnePlus, and HTC have also confirmed that some of their smartphones will receive the update before 2017 ends. HTC confirmed that the new software update will be launched to its HTC U11, U Ultra and HTC 10 smartphones. OnePlus, on the other hand, will roll out the update to its OnePlus 3 and 3T handsets. However, OnePlus made it known that this will be the last software upgrade that these two smartphones will receive.
Currently, the Android Oreo is featured in Sony’s Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact smartphones.
Features of Oreo
Meanwhile, the Android 8.0 Oreo features a slick user interface with improved response time, faster boot times and an enhanced battery life. The latest Android version boosts the resource availability of the mobile device for enhanced performance.
It is interesting to note that the software update comes along with better storage controls, Wi-Fi Aware technology, 60 new emojis, ability to snooze notifications, imaging apps’ better color depth, smart text selection and ambient display.
