Apple is expected to unveil its highly anticipated iPhone 8 on September 12 officially. However, a leaked version of iOS 11 operating system confirms a number of the main features coming to the 10th-anniversary smartphone.

The latest iOS 11 leak has also revealed the names of the company’s forthcoming mobile devices, according to The Verge. The 10th-anniversary device will be called iPhone X, while the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus will be dubbed iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. However, iOS developer Steve Troughton-Smith hit on his Twitter account to clarify that Apple did not officially confirm the monikers of the smartphones.

According to 9to5Mac, iOS 11’s latest leak made known more features of Apple’s 10th-anniversary smartphone, which include the Face ID. The Face ID feature will be the official name of iPhone 8’s face recognition technology. The iOS 11 leak comes along with a video tutorial for setting up the handset’s Face ID feature. In opening the iPhone X, users need to move their face around the smartphone’s camera.

The Cupertino based tech company appears to make the OLED edge-to-edge display of the iPhone 8 to stand out. The software leak showcased a set of vibrant wallpapers. The wallpapers will feature yellow, orange and purple designs. The smartphone will also arrive with a Portrait Lighting. This feature will boast several image modes, such as Studio Light, Stage Light Mono, Contour Light, Stage Light as well as Natural Light.

Device with True Tone display feature

The smartphone has been rumored to arrive with a True Tone display feature. Nonetheless, the firmware leak appears to include the feature. The True Tone display feature will allow users to adjust the handset’s display depending on the environment. This feature will have a 1125 x 2436 pixel resolution.

There is also a reference that the iMessage will feature 3D animated emoji, which will be dubbed Animoji. The power button and side button of the iPhone 8 will be able to perform several actions, such as activating Siri personal assistant as well as showing Apple Pay cards.

Price of the handset

However, Apple’s 10th-anniversary mobile device is expected to arrive with a wireless charging capability, faster-charging support, Apple A11 chip, and support for LTE speed up to 450Mbps. The iPhone 8 is also expected to boast a vertical dual camera setup. Pre-order of the smartphone is expected to kick off on September 15. The handset will have a $1,000 price tag.
