Rumors and speculations of the Moto X4 Android smartphone are trickling onto the web. Now, the specification details of the mobile device have been spotted on the United States FCC website. The FCC certification also hints at the smartphone’s imminent release.
Device with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 630 processor
According to 9to5 Google, the FCC listing revealed the specs of the Moto X4 smartphone.
The U.S. variant of the mobile device sports a 5.2-inch full-HD AMOLED display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution, protected by a Gorilla Glass 3. The handset will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 630 system on chip (SoC) with Adreno 508 GPU, backed up by a 4GB of RAM and a 64GB of built-in storage, which is expandable up to 256GB through a microSD slot. However, previous reports claimed that the smartphone will be powered by the Snapdragon 660 processor.
The Moto X4 will further come packed with a non-removable Li-Ion 3,000 mAh battery and USB-C for charging. The mobile device will run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS with the tech company’s minimal customizations on top.
The device will come along with a 3.5mm headphone jack.
On the camera front, the Moto X4 boasts a dual 12MP rear camera, one for monochrome and the other for color. Other features include slow motion mode, HDR, Burst mode, macro mode, geotagging, panorama and face detection. The device will also feature a 16MP wide-angle front camera.
The handset is expected to weigh in at 163 grams and measures 148.35x73.4x7.99mm. The Moto X4 smartphone is expected to arrive with a fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button. The mobile device will be available in two color options - Sterling Blue and Super Black.
Smartphone with Project Fi compatibility
However, the smartphone is rumored to be the first non-Google mobile device that will have a Project Fi compatibility.
This will be essential for Project Fi users with a Nexus 5X smartphone that can’t purchase the expensive Pixel handset.
The Moto X4 smartphone is expected to be equipped with a Bluetooth 5.0, A-GPS, gyro, front-mounted fingerprint sensor, proximity, accelerometer and a compass. First Post reported that the handset will come along with an IP68 certification for dust and water resistance. In terms of design, the device is expected to feature a 3D glass back with dual curved edges just like Samsung’s Galaxy S8.
The tech company might announce the smartphone during Lenovo’s event on August 31, or at the upcoming IFA 2017 event in Berlin.
