As Google prepares for its launch of the new Pixel 2 in October, speculation runs rampant on design flaws Google incorporated into the release of its latest phone. One change that has been made is that the camera is no longer flush with the phone, making it hard to place the phone on a flat surface. Another change is that Google may follow in the footsteps of Apple and remove the 3.5 mm Headphone Jack leaving users with either a USB port or wireless headphones to listen to music.
The headphone jack is gone
Know Your Mobile reported that the latest features of the Google Pixel 2 were revealed in the Olixar case renders that were released. The cases reveal a more luxurious concept for the new phone and the cases come in a wide variety of colors that include a two-tone rose-gold finish. The accents include the colors blue, purple, red, and green. Although the Pixel 2 had great features and excellent performance, until now, the design was considered dreary by some, so the new colors in cases will offer nice choices for consumers to select from. The latest design leaks reveal that the phone will come in black.
The phone will look pretty average for a Google product, and the Olixar cases are considered to be a pretty reliable rendering of the phone. The case confirms that the 3.5 mm headphone jack is gone.
Improved design and other outstanding features
News4C reported that they believe the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 had the ability to surpass the Samsung Galaxy S8 with its impressive design. The new cases will make the phone look more sleek and elegant. They don't have the cutout edges of the Apple iPhone or the curved edges of the Galaxy S8. The rumor was that the more stylish design would only be released for the larger version of the Pixel 2. The Pixel XL 2 is currently rumored to be somewhere around six inches.
Although Olixar displayed its cases as not having a spot for the phone jack, other cases are reported to come with one.
Express UK reported that the size of Google's smartphone shrunk from last year. The case shows that there is a rear camera, and it includes a single sensor. The circular fingerprint sensor is now part of the body instead of the glass. Google is also expected to trim the bezels around the display this time. There is also a suggestion that the smartphone will have a 2:1 aspect ratio, similar to the LG 6. Although it doesn't have a curved glass around the edge of the display, it is a flat OLED display that blends with the edge of the chassis.
