Asus has mailed media invites for the upcoming Launch of the ZenFone 4 smartphone on August 19. The launch invite clearly reveals the date and the location of the launch event, which is the Philippines. Towards the bottom, the company has stated a message related to photography, which indicates the fact that the Asus Zenfone 4 would ship with a dual camera mechanism.

Trend of dual cameras

The addition of dual camera sensors assumes importance since Samsung is also planning to integrate the dual camera in the Galaxy Note 8 handset. With the launch of the Apple iPhone 8 just one month away, Asus will likely face huge competition on the market.

However, Asus phones are generally budget-friendly, unlike Samsung and Apple.

Will it be the same phone as launched in Russia?

Recently, the Taiwan-based smartphone giant had launched the Asus ZenFone 4 Max in Russia with dual camera sensors. It remains to be seen as to whether the company will launch the same handset in the upcoming launch. There is also a possibility for the launch of several variants of the rumored handset.

Ultimate Zenfone 4 line-up

According to NDTV, the ZenFone 4 will consist of Asus ZenFone 4 (ZE554KL), Max (ZC554KL), Pro (Z01GD), Selfie (Z01M), and 4V (V520KL/A006) models. While the ZenFone 4 could ship with two different RAM and internal storage options, the Pro model is a newly introduced phone to the family.

Touted to be the premium phone, the Pro model will have enhanced features than the standard fourth edition of the Zenfone.

In a bid to push sales via mobile carrier route, Asus has reportedly established a partnership with Verizon. The ZenFone 4V model will be exclusive to the US-based service provider and can be purchased with a relevant data plan.

Android Nougat confirmed

Talking about the ZenFone 4 Selfie, the smartphone with model number Z01M will feature a 5.5-inch FHD display, Snapdragon 625 processor, Adreno 506 graphics, 4GB RAM, 32GB internal storage loaded with Android 7.1.1 Nougat with an assured update to Android Octopus. As the name suggests, the smartphone is selfie centric and will bear a 12MP front-facing snapper alongside the 16MP rear camera.

Moreover, the Max model will ship with 4GB RAM coupled with 5000mAh battery with reverse charging capability.

Even though the specifications of the Asus ZenFone 4 has been leaked on various popular tech news portals, the company is yet to launch the phone. The only launch occurred in Russia with the release of the ZenFone 4 Max. To recall, the previous models comprising of ZenFone 3, Deluxe and Ultra were launched in one go in May 2016 in Taipei.

We don't have any accurate information regarding why the release of the next-generation smartphones has been delayed even after the end of first half of 2017. That said, the forthcoming launch of the phone in the Philippines will be a turning point for the imminent launch in other markets such as USA, China, and India.
