A new rugged phone is on the market. The new release comes from Blu, a U.S. based Android handset manufacturing OEM. The OEM launched the latest addition to its Tank Xtreme series, the Tank Xtreme Pro. The new handset has been uploaded on the website of BLU, but sans a price tag. However, it is expected that the smartphone will be up on Amazon very soon.
Tank Xtreme Pro: The waterproof smartphone
The Tank Xtreme Pro is one of the bulkiest and heaviest smartphones in the market, surpassing even the Samsung Xcover 4, another rugged handset that was recently introduced in the market.
The handset measures 146 x 74.8 x 13.9 mm in dimensions and weighs a little more than 206 gms, including the battery. The smartphone comes with IP68 water and dust resistant certification and is the first in the company's line to sport such a high-end feature. Thanks to this IP86 rating, the smartphone can be submerged under 1.5 meter of water for a duration of 30 minutes without getting damaged.
Apart from that, the Tank Xtreme Pro can endure drops and shocks thanks to the "rubber dual injection." This absorbs any shocks and acts like a cushioning for the device. In addition to this, the rubber paint coating is quite attractive and adds to the looks of the handset.
Specs and features of the smartphone
The Tank Xtreme Pro is powered by a quad-core MediaTek processor clocking at 1.5 GHz under the hood.
Along with it comes the handset's 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of native storage. However, the user has the option of memory expansion via a microSD card to up to 64 GB. The rugged smartphone boasts a 5-inch HD display, which comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating for added protection.
In terms of camera, the rugged build smartphone comes equipped with a standard 8-megapixel primary camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel selfie snapper. However, the best part of the smartphone is its massive battery capacity that keeps the handset running for long. The device comes with a whopping 4,300 mAh battery capacity, which the company claims to offer support for over 2 days of continuous use.
The rugged smartphone provides dual-SIM support and will be retailed unlocked.
However, the device will not function on CDMA carriers in the United States. The smartphone will come pre-loaded with Android 7.0 Nougat and will be available in four shades - blue, green, red, and black. It remains to be seen if the device finds favor with consumers.
