Samsung is expected to release its Galaxy Note 8 smartphone this September. Rumors on social media are hovering regarding the phablet's specs and features. If reports are to be believed, Galaxy Note 8 smartphone will be quite similar to the recently-launched Galaxy S8 Plus especially in terms of design. However, there will be a couple of exclusive features that might come bundled up in the Note 8.

Samsung's most expensive smartphone

As reported by BGR, these exclusive features include an upgraded S Pen stylus, a dual rear camera set-up by Isocell, a larger screen and more built-in memory in comparison to the Galaxy S8 Plus smartphone. A new report by Osen citing unidentified Samsung Electronics representative suggested that the upcoming Galaxy Note 8 device will come in two storage options namely, 64GB and 128GB. To recall, the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus smartphones carry only 64GB of internal storage. These devices, however, come with an option 256GB internal storage expandable via microSD card.

The same report also goes on to state that the flagship smartphone is going to be among the most expensive offerings made by the company. Coming at a base price of anywhere between $1,000 and $1,100, the Galaxy Note 8 device will be even more costly than Apple’s speculated iPhone 8 device. Moreover, since it’s the base price, it is safe to assume that the Galaxy Note 8 128GB storage variant will be priced at $1,000. In other words, the lowest storage tier is priced at $1,000 and that means that the price of the higher models will be much more expensive than the former.

Release will take place in New York

The report further goes on to state that the expected Galaxy Note 8 smartphone will be unveiled at an event in New York in September.

However, there are several other reports that indicate that the smartphone is set to be launched sometime in August. Since Samsung hasn’t provided any clarity on this matter, it remains to be seen when exactly Samsung will be announcing the Note 8 smartphone. It is interesting to note that Samsung’s traditional pattern of launching its Note series smartphones is usually in late August.

As for the specifications, GSMArena reports that the Note 8 device is going to come equipped with a 5.7-inch (3840 x 2160 pixel resolution) Super AMOLED capacitive touch-screen display with added Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The smartphone is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 SoC.

The device will be running on the latest Android 7.1 Nougat. On the camera front, the smartphone packs a dual rear camera with 13MP sensors accompanied by OIS, Face Detection Auto-Focus, Dual-LED flash, and several other additional features. As for the front camera, the device will feature an 8MP sensor for selfie-lovers.
