The upcoming Apple smartphone lineup i.e. iPhone 8, 7s, and 7s Plus are expected to come with wireless charging technology in tow. However, according to latest reports, the path-breaking feature may not be ready by the time the trio launches. The rumor also suggests that a wireless charging accessory may even be sold separately to avoid further delay in the launch of the smartphones.

Next-generation iPhones' wireless charging technology

Blogger John Gruber, on Friday, July 8, shared on Twitter that Apple will not integrate the wireless charging technology in its tenth anniversary smartphone iPhone 8 or the 7s and 7s Plus.

Instead, Gruber claims that the Cupertino-based company plans to sell the wireless charging technology as an additional accessory. Mentioning sources who have preferred to stay unnamed, Gruber also revealed that Apple is facing issues incorporating the wireless charging technology in the iPhone 8, 7s, and 7s.

The blogger also mentioned that even inductive charging may get delayed as Apple may be “waiting for iOS 11.1 (a la Portrait mode last year).” However, he shared in a separate tweet that he was not sure entirely as to what was causing the delay – the hardware or software of the smartphones.

Nevertheless, Gruber’s give a ray of hope noting that Apple may have the ability to make up for lost time and pick up the pace in the coming three weeks.

However, it is advised to treat his claims and assertions with a grain of salt even though Gruber has a decent track record of Apple rumors bearing fruition.
