Off-roaders are definitely getting more and more powerful and capable. For the longest time, the Wrangler has reigned supreme in this category. However, other off-roaders have come somehow successful in stealing away the limelight.
Of course, one can’t hold the title forever, right? Well, this may actually be the case a few years from now. As the 2020 Ford Bronco has been introduced to the market at the Detroit Auto Show, car enthusiasts and industry experts were left in total anticipation.
This is easy to understand. The 2020 Ford Bronco is expected to take the glory away from the Jeep Wrangler. How is this ever possible? Well, in many ways both expected and unexpected.
So, will the Ford Bronco keep the Jeep Wrangler on its toes?
The Bronco ended its production in 1996 and was based on the Ford F-150. A lot of speculations came up after its official introduction at the Detroit Auto Show. Car enthusiasts and some experts think that the 2020 Ford Bronco may be based on the 2017 Ford Raptor. However, a certain Redditor said that Ford may use the Ranger-based Everest for the new Bronco.
While these speculations appear to be valid, Ford Technical Officer Raj Nair dispelled all these. Nair said that the 2020 Bronco will be a completely unique vehicle. It will not, in any way, be just a modified Everest. Nair also revealed that the 2020 Bronco will be smaller than the Bronco II but bigger than the original Bronco.
As it is reported to come with an entirely new vehicle, it is expected to be powered by the same engine as the Ranger. This is so because both are to share the same platform. The Bronco will get an off-road version to compete for neck-and-neck with the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.
For one, the 2020 Ford Bronco may get solid Dana axles for both front and rear. This is the same company responsible for the upgraded axles of Jeep Wrangler Rubicon.
Where will the 2020 Bronco be made?
The 2020 Ford Bronco will stay true to its all-American roots. While issues of having car plants outside the United States have somehow died down, it still adds to the all-American appeal if a car is domestically made.
The latest Bronco will be built and assembled at Wayne, Michigan facility. The Ford Rangers are also built in there. The Wayne facility used to only make the company’s small cars.
In conclusion...
Ford definitely keeps on evolving. This is definitely a good thing such that it provides top-notch vehicles that meet the discerning demands and requirements of its customers. As the Bronco is going to be back in 2020, it will be packed with so many technological advancements and updates enough to keep the Wrangler on its toes.
