The 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited may appear similar to the current one, but do not let looks fool you. There are differences that can be pointed out. To Jeep fanatics, these may be noticeable. However, to the untrained eye, it may just be easily missed.
So what are the differences?
First off, Wrangler fans will be delighted as it continues to use a solid frame with removable roof and doors.
It does have a little resemblance to the JK for having the same boxy style. The difference, however, comes from the vent behind the front fenders which plays an important role in overall improved aerodynamics.
The front bumper receives a well-deserved updating as well. The fog lights are repositioned from the center to the edges. The seven-slat grille continues on, however, it is more upright as compared the one’s seen in the past. The headlights intrude slightly to the outer slats of the grille.
Just when you think the changes are over, the 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited still has more to offer. The additional character line below the windows which runs from the A-pillar back contributes to its more updated look.
Why is it considered the most “American” car you can ever own?
Simple. It is built in the U.S. While there may no longer be any issues with different manufacturers having plants outside the U.S., it still is comforting to know that the 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is built domestically. That instantly gives its “All-American-ness justice.
According to American-Made Index or AMI, for a product to be considered domestic, it has to be built or sourced from local factories and plants. It should also have more U.S. citizen involvement/employment for the production and sale of each vehicle. The 2018 Jeep Wrangler ultimately meets this.
Is the Jeep Wrangler really the best off-roader, at least in the United States?
It depends on who critiques it. While many would easily agree that it is the best, some may think otherwise. There are actually great contenders, which are the Ford Ranger and the Bronco. The Ranger is expected to be released in 2019 with the Bronco following a year later.
Both the Bronco and Ranger are expected to be built on a body-on-frame platform. Both vehicles are reported to be bigger that its predecessors. What does this mean? Well, Ford may give the Wrangler a run for its money. However, the Wrangler has a 50-year track record which comes tough to beat. It has evolved and is continually evolving as evidenced by the upcoming 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.
