LG announced a new edition of its 2017 flagship smartphone LG G6 in its home country South Korea. The company unveiled the new LG G6+ which is not much different from its sibling LG G6, barring a few features. The South Korean OEM also unveiled some new color variants for the existing LG G6.
LG G6+ launches in South Korea
The LG G6+ comes with 128 GB of onboard storage and Qi wireless charging. Apart from these two features, the newly-launched smartphone is almost identical to its sibling. The newly launched handset will come in Optical Terra Gold, Astro Black, and Marine Blue.
However, the colors of the smartphones change when it is subjected to reflection of light from a certain angle. The G6, on the other hand, comes in new colors Marine Blue and Terra Gold.
Update on the cards?
The company shared that from now on the G6, and the G6+ will receive updates at the same time. The OEM shared that the smartphones will be receiving a new update very soon. The upcoming update for the two handsets will bring Motion Recognition to the two smartphones to enable the face recognition function. This particular function will enable the smartphones to recognize a user’s face and will work even when the display of is turned off.
Apart from the Motion Recognition update, the South Korean OEM also announced that the Lens Blind Reminder update would be coming to the two handsets very soon.
This update will alert users when the wide angle camera is in use. Additionally, LG will also be may also be rolling out the Fine Volume Control update along with the Automatic Call Recording update.
Specs and features
As mentioned earlier, the only point of difference between the G6 and G6+ lies in the smartphones’ charging options, internal storage, and colors.
Apart from this, both the smartphones are identical to each other in all aspects. The handset boasts a 5.7-inch display with 2880 x 1440 pixels resolution. The newly-launched smartphone comes with 4 GB of RAM and three variants of internal storage. The G6+ is available in 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB storage.
The LG G6+ is powered by a Snapdragon 821 64-bit quad-core SoC and is fueled by a 3,300 mAh battery.
Regarding the camera, the new smartphone comes with a dual rear camera setup with 13-megapixel shooters. The smartphone comes pre-loaded with Android 7.0 Nougat. It is not known when and if the handset will be released in the United States and at what price.
