Apple has been busy with announcements at the WWDC this year. It debuted the HomePod smart speaker at the event and as rumored, announced the new 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro. The 10.5-inch variant will replace the 9.7-inch Ipad Pro.

New iPad features

Even though the new iPad Pro features a bigger display than the 9.7-inch variant, the dimensions of both tablets are exactly the same.

Surprisingly, the 10.5-inch model sports minimal bezels, which has allowed the Cupertino-based company to increase the screen space by almost one inch from its previous iteration.

The new iPad Pro houses the advanced A10X chipset coupled with an M10 coprocessor. This processor is said to be much faster than the previous A9X SoC in the 9.7-inch iPad Pro. The chipset houses 6 cores while the GPU comes with 12-cores, which gives the device an edge over older models. Apple claims due to the improved chip, the new tablet is 30 percent faster in CPU performance and 40 percent faster in GPU performance when compared to the A9X chipset that is coupled with the M9 coprocessor.

Is the new tablet faster?

Apple claimed that the latest iPad Pro is almost 500 times faster than the first iPad, which is impressive. The arrival of iOS 11 later this year will also optimize the 10.5-inch model, as it has been designed keeping in mind the upcoming super fast operating system. The Cupertino-based company claimed that the iOS 11 along with the A10X chipset will enable the new line of tablets to perform more efficiently than some premium laptops.

The True Tone display on the latest iPad is much brighter than earlier renditions. The use of the Apple Pencil will also be much easier on this device than on the previous ones. Regarding the battery, the company lists it as being able to run for 10 hours, as is the case with all iPads.

The camera of the device has undergone some improvements. For instance, the device houses a 7-megapixel FaceTime shooter instead of the 5-megapixel sensor found on the 9.7-inch variant. The new tablet sports a 12-megapixel primary camera, which can record videos of 4K quality. Apple revealed that both of the sensors in the tablet are the same ones which were found in the iPhone 7.

Price

The Wi-Fi only 64 GB 10.5-inch iPad Pro will retail at $649, while the 64 GB Wi-Fi+Cellular variety will be priced $779. However, other variants will also be present with different internal memory storage. It is known that a 512 GB memory variant will also be launched by Apple.
