The ZTE Axon 7 - which released in June 2016 - received the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update earlier in March this year. The smartphone will be receiving another software update in the coming days. The latest update brings some new features and fixes some problems users experienced when the Android N update was first pushed out to the device.

When will the update roll out?

The ZTE Axon 7 with the model number A2017U will be receiving the major software update with the firmware build B25. The company confirmed on April 30 that the update would be rolled out within the next 48 hours.

According to the upgrade, Axon 7 users will be able to use the much-awaited Night Mode feature.

What features does the update bring?

The update will also endow users with the ability to delete or disable few stock apps. These apps came pre-loaded with the smartphone and consume plenty of precious space. The latest software update for Axon 7 also adds support for a 256GB microSD card. It also brings improvements to existing features like the “Do Not Disturb” mode.

Among the improvements, the software update would fix issues related to the Wi-Fi calling. It will also improve the stability and security options for the smartphone.

The release notes from ZTE reveals other miscellaneous improvements and fixes, which suggest that the April security patch will be included in the update.

ZTE has outed this update based on the feedback received from users after the initial roll out of Android Nougat for Axon 7.

When will it reach users?

The OTA update is an incremental one and will likely reach owners of the Axon 7 in phases. However, users are advised to remove their microSD card before proceeding for the software update, to avoid any issues.

Before updating the handset, users would do well to backup important data. It is also advisable to have sufficient free space and battery charge.
