T-Mobile is rolling out a couple of minor updates for two of its Samsung smartphones. Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 smartphones running on the carrier’s network were experiencing call failures quite frequently, which prompted a fixe for both the devices. T-Mobile, in its support page for both the devices, shared that the updates have been made available from May 21 and come with the “Intermittent call failure fix.”

What is it all about?

Although the T-Mobile update content for both the smartphone is the same, the software build numbers are different.

The Note 5 software update comes with build number N920TUVU4EQE1, while the Galaxy S6 edge+ comes with firmware version G928TUVU4EQE1. Apart from the call failure fix, the update will also upgrade the smartphones to Android 7.0 Nougat if the devices are still running on the DQC2 version. If not, then the devices will be upgraded from EQC6 to EQC1.

The update requirements and procedure of download is the same for the devices. As the update has been rolled out over-the-air, it may take some time to reach all Galaxy S6 edge+ and Note 5 users. In the event the update does not appear after an extensive amount of time, then one can download and install it manually.

Update requirements

To download and install the new update without any hindrance, both the smartphones must have 50 percent or higher battery charge in them.

Apart from this, the users of the both devices must have access to a good Wi-Fi connection to download the update sans any issues. In case one is upgrading the Galaxy S6 edge+ from DQC2 to EQE1, then the user must make sure that there is 1.39 GB of space available in the phone for the update file download. In case of upgradation from EQC6 to EQE1, 223.57 MB of space is required for the file to download.

Important instructions to keep in mind

If the user of the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Note 5 received the update via OTA, then they have to go to the About Device option from the Settings menu.

From the option, choose Software Update. Follow the onscreen prompts to download and install the software update.
