Motorola has not officially announced the Moto Z2 Play smartphone series, but rumors of the device have been doing the rounds for several weeks. Some phones including the Z2 Play are expected to be launched soon. Although the company has been tight-lipped on the details of the upcoming phones, a company representative has let out the battery capacity of the mobile device.

The upcoming device will succeed the Moto Z Play that the company launched at the 2016 IFA in Berlin. Customers will hope that the next Motorola phone includes upgraded features in comparison to the Moto Z Play.

The rumored device is expected to be unveiled in early June.

Previous rumors

As the Z Play is available in the U.S., it is very likely that the successor will also land in the country. The Moto Z2 Play was recently spotted at TENAA, the Chinese equivalent of FCC. TENAA listing reveals some specs of the phone. The handset may come with 12-megapixel rear-facing camera with dual-LED flash. The phone is estimated to include a 5-megapixel front camera. It is worth noting that the original smartphone comes packed with 16-megapixel primary camera.

The Moto Z2 Play is also expected to sport a 5.5-inch full HD OLED display with 1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution. It could come running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 processor and 4 GB of RAM.

However, the TENAA listing shows that the handset may include 2,820 Mah battery.

The next-gen Motorola phone is expected to come with 64 GB of internal storage, which is double in comparison to the 32 GB storage found on the Z Play. This handset also allowed the option of increasing the memory capacity with a microSD card. It is likely that the upcoming Moto Z2 Play also has a microSD card slot for storage expansion.

Motorola representative reveals battery details

A Motorola smartphone enthusiast asked Lenovo on Twitter about the battery capacity of the next Motorola phone. A company representative replied that the next-gen Motorola device would come with non-removable 3,000 mAh battery. However, the tweet has now been deleted. It is worth noting that the original Z Play comes with a bigger 3,510 mAh battery.

Customers waiting for the smartphone may not be happy that the upgraded phone will come with a smaller battery size. Although the information is coming from a Lenovo representative, it is not coming a top company official. Customers will have to wait another few weeks to find the confirmed specs of the Moto Z2 Play.
