Smartphone enthusiasts, rejoice! Google is gearing up to introduce three new devices in it's lauded Pixel series in 2017.
Google unveiled its first Nexus handset back in 2010 and ever since the company has stuck to the tradition of coming out with flagship devices every year, but things are likely to be a bit different this time around. The Google Pixel propelled to huge popularity last year and probably bearing that in mind, Google may decide to launch more than just a couple of smartphones this year.
Three new Google Pixel devices likely to launch in 2017
Google's mobile OS (operating system) website AOSP (Android Open Source Project) recently spilled the beans about the search giant's alleged flagship smartphones that are rumored to hit the store shelves this year. According to the source code on the website three Google Pixel devices bearing the codenames, "Walleye," "Muskie" and "Taimen" will be released this year.
Aside from that, AOSP also suggests all three Pixel smartphones will pack Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processors, which is based on 10nm processor technology. Google has already confirmed in the past that it will release a Pixel device in 2017; however, the tech firm did not divulge the number of devices it plans to debut this year.
Meanwhile, rumors running rampant online indicate the purported third device will actually be a tablet and not a smartphone.
'Taimen' model spotted on Geekbench
Codenamed "Taimen," the third Google Pixel device recently made an appearance on the Geekbench benchmark site. Running Google's next build of the open source OS i.e.
Android O, "Taimen" was powered by Snapdragon 835 chipset, coupled with the octa-core CPU clocked at 1.9GHz. The single-core and multicore test resulted in scores of 1804 and 6248 respectively.
The Google Pixel and Pixel XL were launched in October last year, so it is highly likely that the company will stick to its release pattern and introduce the sequels in the same month this year.
If this speculation comes to fruition, the "Taimen" model will change the duo of Pixels into a trio this year.
Next Pixel device: key features
Not too long ago, a concept video for the Galaxy Note 8 was shared online by a YouTube channel known as Concept Creator. Now, they have come out with a teaser of the highly anticipated Google Pixel 2.
Details regarding the aforesaid device are hard to come by. Besides, the company's lips are sealed regarding what aces it has up its sleeves for the next Pixel flagship devices, meaning, designers do not have enough shreds of information to work with.
The Google Pixel 2 concept video presents Google Pixel 2 handset that bears a striking resemblance to its well-received precursor while taking latest designs from the company's competitors into consideration.
The render hints at the addition of dual cameras not only on the back but also on the front of the new phone.
Moreover, the concept reveals the phone will sport a full-screen design, which seems to be a 2017 fad. The device will come bearing an OLED display just like the original Pixel. More concrete details are likely to surface online sooner rather than later. In the meantime, take a gander at the following clip, which is a mere teaser. There is a possibility that a full video could arrive sometime soon
