'Grand Theft Auto 6' has been subject to a slew of rumors and leaks, with the rumor mill churning all sorts of speculations around the hotly anticipated sequel to Rockstar Games' hit action-adventure video game. Amidst the lack of an official confirmation, rumors surrounding 'GTA 6' release date, locations, the protagonist and other details have been running rampant all over the internet.

Lining with this, some optimistic 'GTA' fans believe the long-rumored sequel is just around the corner. The rumor stems from reports hinting at a looming launch of 'Red Dead Redemption 2.'

'GTA 6': When is it coming?

Apparently, Rockstar had to deviate its complete focus on developing the equally anticipated sequel to its hit western action-adventure video game, 'Red Dead Redemption 2,' which is reportedly scheduled to arrive later this year.

While nothing is set in stone yet, zealous gamers have not ceased clamoring for the sequel to the 'GTA 5.'

Aside from that, some previously surfaced reports have indicated that the studio is in no mood to focus on a new game at the moment and is currently bent on leaving no stone unturned in their bid to offer an array of awe-inspiring updates and DLCs (downloadable content) for the fifth iteration in the 'Grand Theft Auto' series, but fans should not lose hopes just yet.

There's also hearsay that the game developer is in the early stage of the development of the purported title. In the meantime, 'Grand Theft Auto Online' continues to be the company's cash cow.

It's worth noting that the popular game maker has a reputation of keeping massive gaps between the launch of two games.

Bearing that in mind, some avid gamers claim there could be a gap of at least a couple of years between 'RDR2' and the next 'GTA' title.

It can be recalled that there was a considerable four-year gap between 'GTA: San Andreas' and 'GTA 4.' If the company sticks to its release pattern, the long-awaited game is highly unlikely to see the light of day anytime soon.

A few sources, on the other hand, have been pointing to a 2018 fall launch for the title, but it's a mere speculation.
