It's been a week since the giant Apple in Cupertino sent invitations to its big annual conference reserved for developers, The WWDC. This conference is going to be held on June 5 at 10 am at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California. It will probably be the last WWDC to be held here, as Apple Park, the upcoming Apple campus that is about to open, now has an amphitheater designed for this event.
What to expect from this 2017 edition? Probable announcements are made.
The (sad) end of the iPad mini
This is a news that already left distress in the hearts of its followers: the iPad mini could draw its reference in the coming weeks.
The smallest Apple tablet would not be renewed. The iPad mini could be removed from the shelves very soon. Apple's decision would not be surprising as this fourth generation iPad mini has not received any updates since September 2015.
While it is definite that the current trend is on the bigger screens, the disappearance of the iPad mini could be regrettable on several levels: first because it remains to this day the most ergonomic tablet of the range, the only one that can be held in one hand or that can be embarked in a pocket. But also because it is the lightest iPad (less than 300 grams).
Powerful MacBooks
Nothing indicates that Apple will reintroduce the usual USB 3.0 ports on its laptops, or even its MagSafe, the magnetic connection of the battery.
That's it. But according to Bloomberg, all MacBooks could finally benefit from "more powerful processors", an update judged more than necessary since the last year presentation of a MacBook and a MacBook Pro (with or without Touch Bar) is terribly expensive and disappointing under the hood.
The 10.5-inch iPad Pro
Apple could announce the introduction of a new iPad Pro with the 10.5-inch screen novel format.
Borderless, this one could thus coincide with the size of a case of iPad mini and consolidate the habitues of the small format. After all, even if it is not called "Mini", it will probably look like it, and that's the main thing.
Mac Pro renewal
This is perhaps one of the safest information to date, Apple has organized an amazing news conference early in April to announce the news: a "true" new Mac Pro workstation made in Cupertino, which will be unveiled in 2018.
At this WWDC, we could, therefore, know a little more about this machine which would gain in modularity compared to its latest model, launched in June 2013.
Software updates
We will, of course, discover the latest versions of the operating systems macOS, iOS, watchOS, and tvOS. IOS 11 should logically put Siri to the forefront, at a time when artificial intelligence is increasingly placed at the heart of OS on all sides.
