"Five Nights at Freddy's" game creator Scott Cawthon hasn’t said much in the past six months, but the drought appears to be over. Edits to a source code in both the FNaF World and Scott Games websites point to something new, although it’s unsure for now if it’s a new game or merely an update.
Dubbed the "scariest game in years," the survival-horror game has caused fans sleepless nights. It's cartoony graphics even make things worse, although at first glance one could easily think the game is entirely a joke, much like the infamous "Sad Satan" that's been the talk of Reddit even to this day.
Fans can’t get enough of it, even going through lengths of checking the source code now and then, which is what Redditor Stev3pie did.
FNaF April Fools’ bit may not be a joke after all
The initial hints for "Five Nights at Freddy's" started April 1, and fans took it quite well – after all, it’s April Fools’. But the gag appears to be a bit overdue as it continued since, and now fans speculate that there could be an actual update or a new game in the pipeline.
The teases appear in the form of an odd argument between the creator’s two websites. Here’s what fans have jigsawed so far:
FNaFWorld: "Be quiet."
ScottGames: "You can't tell us what to do anymore."
FNaFWorld: Yes, I can.
You will do everything that I tell you to do."
ScottGames: "We outnumber you."
Freddy Fazbear's Pizza – still a hit after all these years
The animatronics found at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, albeit hideous in both appearance and nature, is apparently something fans hold on to after all these years. Launched in 2014, the game blew out of proportion that Cawthon claimed to receive hundreds of emails every hour.
"Five Nights at Freddy's" boasts five games since its launch, the most recent being "Sister Location," released last year. "FNaF World,” a spin-off, was also released last year.
Meanwhile, fans over at the Steam Community firmly believe that a new game is in the works, possibly “FNaF 6.” One fan commented: “I've seen a lot of people say this before, and I wholeheartedly agree.
Scott's announced the last two core series games in late April (24th through the 28th is the timeframe I'm betting on.) He could announce whatever he's doing at that point.”
Given Cawthon’s habits, we may hear a confirmation in a few days – if not, an announcement in the coming weeks. “FNaF” is available as a game franchise, novelization, and a developing Hollywood film.
