Not Everyone thinks the Nebraska football team is going to be able to turn the corner in 2019. That doesn’t mean the Huskers aren’t working plenty hard to become the program they once were. Both in the next season and the near future. One of the ways the Cornhuskers’ coaching staff has managed to show improvement is on the recruiting front. As we enter the period of time when targets start to announce where it is they want to go, Nebraska is sitting pretty with a pair of high value targets.
Bryant-Strother names Nebraska football among Top 10
Chose Bryant-Strother might not be a name Husker fans have heard all that often so far, but it is one they might become more familiar with as the year goes on.
The inside linebacker took to Twitter late last week to announce the 10 teams he will be looking the most closely at from here on out.
The Cornhuskers are in the mix, as well as Michigan in the Big Ten. If there’s one thing that you can say about the group he has chosen to single out, it’s that it’s more than a little eclectic. In addition to Nebraska and the Wolverines, the 3-star prospect has BYU, Tennessee, UCLA, Ole Miss, Miami, Georgia Tech, Texas A&M, and UNC among his favorites.
All that list really shows is that there doesn’t appear to be a region of the country he favors over another. In fact, it’s safe to say the prospect has managed to cover just about the entire USA with his favorites.
The good news is the Georgia native is not favoring the SEC over Nebraska. The 19th ranked inside linebacker in the Peach State, 247Sports also has him as the 57th best player in the state for the 2020 class and the 597th best player overall. Not exactly a blue-chip prospect, it’s clear the Cornhuskers continue to try and form a pipeline to Bryant-Strother’s home state.
Kamara cuts it to seven
Bengally Kamara’s announcement that the Nebraska football team has made his list of top teams means that the Huskers are looking good both on the inside and outside linebacker positions. Kamara named his top seven, rather than his top 10, though he did make sure to point out that his recruitment is fully open.
Kamara is a 3-star outside linebacker from Akron, Ohio and the biggest difference between Bryant-Strother and this prospect is that Kamara does appear to have a favorite and it’s someone the Nebraska football team is quite familiar with when it comes to going head to head for prospects.
247Sports has the linebacker leaning towards Penn State, but his top seven is a who’s-who of Big Ten rivals. Alongside the Huskers, Bengally Kamara has named Michigan, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Michigan State, Purdue, and the Nittany Lions as being the front runners for his service.
Neither prospect has said yet when they plan to announce their official commitment.
