The Nebraska football team has officially made the "final 10" teams for Jo'Quavious Marks

While the Huskers do not yet have a running back commit for the 2020 class, Scott Frost and company have had success bringing in talented rushers since they've arrived in Lincoln. One of the top signees in the pack from last year has not yet arrived on campus. Rahmir Johnson won't be able to come to Lincoln until the summer.

Once he does get there, Johnson is expected to show off why he was one of the most prized recruits in the 2019 class. Should the Huskers manage to reel in Marks, they would have yet another player cut in the mold of Johnson.

Nebraska football has a hill to climb

The first hurdle to getting Jo'Quavious Marks on campus has officially been cleared. The Georgia running back gave a shout out to the coaches that have recruited him so far, while also saying that he had officially cut down the list of teams he continues to look at.

In addition to the Huskers, Marks named Louisville, Tennessee, Texas, Mississippi State, Purdue, North Carolina, Florida State, Penn State, and Georgia Tech.

Considering that he is a four-star prospect, the first thing you might notice is that the Georgia Bulldogs are not on the list.

As of now, the school has not offered him a scholarship, so it's hard to tell what might happen if they did come calling, eventually. One would have to hope that their entry into the race at this late date would mean that they would basically be out of contention at this point.

That's usually not how it works when you are talking about this kind of high level recruiting. The Nebraska football team, and others, are going to have a fight on their hands either way.

247Sports is predicting, at this point, that the real fight might come down to Florida State and Mississippi State.

Husker fans are hoping that the coaching staff's reputation in SEC country, thanks to their time at UCF, might give them a bit of a leg up when it comes to landing the running back.

Behind the numbers on Jo'Quavious Marks

Coming out of Carver High School in Atlanta, Georgia, Marks has managed to make himself one of the best recruits on the running back board. He's currently listed as the 12th best rusher in the 2020 class.

As a statement about just how deep the talent is in Georgia, he's just the 14th best player in the entire class of that state. It's a safe bet he would be the top player in the class if he were coming out of Nebraska. He's also the 135th ranked player in the entire class, according to 247Sports' composite rankings.

Clocking in with a 4.46 time in the 40-yard dash, the blazing fast rusher actually had a bit of a down year in 2018. After rushing for 2,127 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2017, he ran for just 1,500 yards and nine touchdowns last season. Still, it's clear the Nebraska football team would count Jo'Quavious Marks as a massive weapon within their offense.
