Nebraska football fans usually love to see when their former stars excel in the professional league. That included New England Patriots star Rex Burkhead during the team's latest Super Bowl run. In addition to Burkhead, Suh, and Amukamara, it's looking like it could also be the case for wide receiver Quincy Enunwa. The former Nebraska Huskers star is now a member of the New York Jets. He's considered among the top offensive talents of his draft class, a distinction recently recognized through Madden football.
Enunwa among best in his draft class?
A recent Jets Wire USA Today report mentioned that Enunwa will "go down as a steal" for the 2014 draft class. They also mention that Quincy Enunwa is the only real bright spot out of the Jets' draft picks that year.
The Jets took safety Calvin Pryor at No. 18 overall as their earliest pick. Other Jets' picks in that draft included tight end Jace Amaro (No. 49), cornerback Dexter McDougle (No. 80), and Oklahoma wide receiver Jalen Saunders (No. 104). Enunwa was the 209th pick overall, and it's looking like the Jets found a great late-round pick.
Since joining the New York Jets, Enunwa has racked up 1,621 receiving yards and five touchdowns. He's played the majority of his games the past three seasons, with 2016 among his best seasons so far.
He recorded 857 yards and four receiving touchdowns for the season in 16 appearances.
Before getting carried away, it's important to note that Enunwa's 2014 draft class included a number of other stars who went much sooner than he did. That included Javeon Clowney, Sammy Watkins, Khalil Mack, and a guy named Odell Beckham. However, these guys went in the top 20.
Enunwa was selected much later. For that reason, he's being recognized as one of the best late-round picks in the past.
Madden honors Husker alum as draft star
The "Madden 19" NFL game is recognizing a number of players that have made an impact since their draft spots. Among them are known stars like Cam Newton and Keyshawn Johnson.
Both players were No. 1 picks during their respective drafts. In addition to honoring early picks, Madden also unveiled a number of players known as "Late Rounders" who have also panned out as great picks.
That includes the New England Patriots' Tom Brady and New York Jets' Quincy Enunwa. Both guys were sixth-round picks in their drafts. Madden 19 Ultimate Team unveiled a special card in the game featuring Enunwa. Gamers are able to acquire the card and add it to their rosters to have the receiver as part of their Madden Ultimate Team.

Enunwa's "Madden 19" Path to the Draft card features an 86 OVR rating for the Jets' receiver.
Among the key attributes are a 93 Acceleration, 81 Speed, and 89 Jumping. Madden previously put out a Core Gold card for the former Huskers star with a 77 rating.
It's certainly great to see the former Nebraska Huskers star getting the respect and recognition he deserves as one of the star players for the New York Jets. One has to wonder which current Nebraska football stars might become future NFL stars as well. Adrian Martinez could be one, as well as recent recruit Dematrius Davis, who said he can see himself running the offense for the Huskers. Time will tell.
