The MLB Power Rankings for Week 7 are out and as we near the 40-game mark for most teams, it is time to start taking a serious look at which clubs are for real and which are already in a bit of trouble.
Yankees roll in at No. 1
Someone break up the New York Yankees! After the first quarter of play, or better known as the 40 game-mark, the Bombers have been more than impressive.
They are 8-2 in their last 10 games and have won 19 of their last 22 overall. They are also one of the top favorites to win the 2018 World Series.
On the other end of the spectrum are the Los Angeles Dodgers. What in the world is going on in la-la land? Yes, they have suffered the injury bug early on, however, this team has a huge payroll and is built to win now. At 16-24, they are already 7.5 games behind Arizona and we are still two weeks outside of June.
Tigers biggest surprise
They are just 18-22, but the Detroit Tigers have to be the biggest surprise so far in 2018. Ron Gardenhire said when he took over the reigns last winter that his team will play good fundamental baseball - no matter who he has on the roster.
Through the first 40 games, the Tigers are doing just that. Not bad for a team that lost big names like Verlander, Kinsler, Upton, Avila and JD Martinez. MLB experts said the Tigers could lose 110 games in 2018. Right now they are just two games out of first place in the AL Central.
Here are the MLB Power Rankings heading into Week 7.
The Top 10
1. New York Yankees -- They are on fire right now! Aaron Judge is showing why he is far from a one year wonder.
2. Boston Red Sox -- They have cooled off just a bit, but still are very dangerous.

4. Arizona Diamondbacks - They just find ways to win, period.
5. Washington Nationals -- They are finally rolling. Bug series vs the Yankees on the horizon.
6. Los Angeles Angels - Upton, Kinsler heating up as Angels take over the AL West.
7. Atlanta Braves -- Will the great start last? Yes. This team will be a thorn in may teams’ side until the end.
8. Milwaukee Brewers -- The NL Central is no longer the Cubbies to run away with.
9. St. Louis Cardinals -- The Cards are heating up just in time.
10. Philadelphia Phillies -- Anther surprise team that isn’t going anywhere. Phillies, Braves race to the end?
