There is no offseason in the NFL, especially when you are talking about Odell Beckham Jr. Every day seems to bring something new when it comes to the flamboyant Beckham in terms of NFL trade rumors, and today (March 29) is no different. Odell Beckham Jr. wants to be part of the Los Angeles Rams - at least that is the latest rumor following the New York Giants wideout. According to a CBS Sports report, via Gary Meyers of the New York Daily News, Beckham has told multiple Los Angeles Rams players he "wants in" on a trade to L.A. and believes he can help the team reach a championship.
Beckham wants to head West?
The Rams have quickly become a rising team in the NFC, and on the heels of last season's success, adding a proven star like Beckham would make them one of, if not the favorites, to win the conference next season. This rumor may actually have legs to it. First off, Los Angeles head coach Sean McVay loves offense. That has been his specialty his entire NFL career.
Beckham, who is one of the best in the game, would be teamed up with the Rams’ new franchise quarterback Jared Goff, not to mention a ton of other offensive talents including running back Todd Gurley and wideouts Tavon Austin and Cooper Kupp. Since Beckham is still under contract with the New York Giants, will this rumor that he wants out of New York so bad lead to a possible deal before or during the 2018 NFL Draft this April?
That depends on Beckham. Sure he is a great talent, but no team wants to hold on to a player who doesn't want to be there.
Giants want a lot in return for Beckham
The New York Giants only have Odell Beckham under contract for one more season, so if they were ever seriously thinking of dealing him away, it would be happening soon.
However, are teams interested in Beckham willing to give up what the G-Men want? According to Bleacher Report, via Adam Schefter of ESPN, the New York Giants are reportedly seeking "at least" two first-round draft picks in any trade offer for Odell Beckham Jr. While that may seem like a lot, a team on the verge of winning an NFL title may think it is worth it.
Giants owner John Mara recently said no one on the team is “untouchable” and all trades would and could be considered. Who can blame him on the heels of a 3-13 season? Mara went on to say that Beckham is “not on the trading block” but he is always willing to listen to offers. “Is that going to stop clubs from possibly calling us? No. But he’s not on the block. We’re not shopping him around,” Mara told reporters. Take a deep breath, football fans, the NFL rumors are only going to get bigger and better each day until fall mini-camp begins!
