We can all agree that James Harden is having an absolutely amazing season and that he is leading Houston Rockets to the playoffs this year. They are currently the first seeded team in the stronger, western conference. With the fact that James Harden became the first player ever to record the 60-point triple-double this year, and an absurd 31.2 points and 8.9 assists average per game he is currently in the top spot in the race for the 2018 MVP award. But does James Harden already have the award locked up?
James Harden playing fantastic this year
Last year James Harden raced for the MVP award, but he lost because Russell Westbrook averaged a triple-double for a whole season.
This year James Harden is playing even better than the last and his stats are saying it all. If you are still unsure if he deserves the MVP trophy take a look at some of his highlights this year.
Many people are saying that dropping Wesley Johnson was the best crossover of the year.
Other players that are threatening to win the MVP award
Kevin Durant is one of the biggest threats to James Harden in terms of wins and losses, and we must include the fact that he is one of the best players in a league. Golden State Warriors are just behind the Houston Rockets with 49 wins and 14 losses. Kevin Durant is also having a great season with 26.1 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.
Steph Curry is also a threat looking at a win-loss ratio, but the Golden State Warriors are not playing as good as they played last season.
Curry is averaging 26.7 points and 6.4 assists per game and we will see how he is going to play throughout the rest of the season.
Anthony Davis is playing really good this season and his game stats are absurd, he has put up 53 points and 18 rebounds against Phoenix Suns, 45 points,17 rebounds, five steals and five blocks game against the Miami Heat, 42 points and 15 rebounds against Los Angeles Lakers, and that are just some of his amazing performances.
He is currently arguably the best big man in the league. If he continues his monstrous run and New Orleans Pelicans finish as a fourth or third seed we could see Anthony Davis taking the MVP trophy.
LeBron James is also in the conversation, but he is getting overlooked because he is so good that he would have to outdo himself to get the award. Also, Cleveland Cavaliers started this season really bad, and are currently the third seed, this is one of the biggest reasons why LeBron maybe won't get MVP this year.
