The Cleveland Cavaliers have been very inconsistent this season, and it seems that they will need to make a big move in order to have a chance to win it all. After winning only five out of their first 12 games to start the season, the Cavaliers went on a 13-game win streak that propelled them to the second place in the East. However, the team started playing bad again and lost four of the last six games.
The Cavaliers have improved a lot, which is a great thing. In addition, their injured players are coming back, including Isaiah Thomas. Despite this, it is questionable whether they can beat the Golden State Warriors and win it all, so the Cavaliers might have to pull a big trade in order to become a serious championship contender.
DeAndre Jordan of the Los Angeles Clippers has been on their radar for a few months, and it appears that the Clippers would consider trading their big man to Cleveland.
DeAndre Jordan to Cleveland
After a hot start of the season, the Clippers have cooled off and they now have 17 wins and 21 losses. They are four games under .500 and two games behind the eighth spot in the West, which is not a good sign. However, DeAndre Jordan has been great and he is averaging career-high numbers in rebounding.
Jordan leads the NBA this season with 15.1 rebounds per game. In addition, the big man is averaging 11.6 points on incredible 65.6 percent shooting. He's been very consistent with his play and is arguably one of the best defenders in the league.
Considering that the Cavaliers do not have a reliable center, trading for DeAndre Jordan would make a lot of sense. The Cavaliers are tied for the 20th spot in rebounds per game with 41.9, and that is one area they could improve with Jordan. In addition, the big man would improve their defense and their roster would be much better.
Trade package
The Cavaliers have reportedly offered Tristan Thompson, Channing Frye, and Iman Shumpert to the Clippers. However, the Clippers want another trade piece from the Cavaliers, the piece that would help them rebuild after losing Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan.
The Clippers are interested in the draft pick the Cavaliers acquired in the trade with the Boston Celtics.
The draft pick originally belonged to the Brooklyn Nets, which is something that makes it extremely valuable. At the moment, the Nets have the eighth-worst record in the league, and they will most likely become a lottery team at the end of the season. The pick could land the Clippers a young superstar they could use to rebuild and start over.
