The Houston Astros punched their ticket to the 2017 World Series Saturday night by winning Game 7 of the American League Championship Series against the New York Yankees by the final score of 4-1.
The Astros proved to be very resilient against the pesky Yankees who came back from a 0-2 hole to make the ALCS very competitive. While the Astros and their fans have been partying since Saturday night, they will have to put New York behind them and focus on the Dodgers if they have dreams of claiming the ultimate prize of a World Series championship.
Can Houston win on the road?
The Houston Astros held the best road record in baseball during the 2017 regular season. However, they have not been road warriors so far in the postseason. The way the schedule is set for the 2017 World Series the Astros are going to have to win at least one game for sure on the road to capture this year's crown.
Houston compiled a 53-28 road record in 2017, tying them for the league's best mark with the Cleveland Indians. So far in the 2017 playoffs, the Astros have lost four of the five games away from Minute Maid Park. They will need to steal a game for the Dodgers in LA to win this series, and that won’t be easy.
The Dodgers won more games than any team in baseball at home this season, finishing the year at 57-24.
Kershaw, Verlander favored in MVP odds
So who will win this clash of the titans? The Dodgers, who held the best record in the National League, and all of baseball for that matter, will be shooting for their seventh World Series title. The Astros have never been crowned champions, but they finished with 101 wins and had the best hitting team in the American League.
According to the Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas, the Los Angeles Dodgers have been installed as early favorites to win the 2017 World Series at -160, with the comeback on Houston set at +145. LA will be looking to win the Series for the first time since 1988.
The also won the championships in 1955, 1959, 1963, 1965 and 1981.
The Houston Astros have never won a World Series, and they don't care about history, they just care about right here and right now. They certainly have the talent to win the series. After all, they wouldn't be here if they didn’t.
