NBA preseason continued on Saturday night when Orlando Magic hosted the Miami Heat at Amway Center in Orlando. Both teams were ready to play their third game this preseason after the Magic finished a winning game against the Mavericks while the Heat lost against the Nets on Friday.
Orlando survived and won the game
Orlando Magic faced Miami Heat on Saturday night, in front of a semi-sellout crowd at their Amway Center in Orlando. In the first 12 minutes, the home squad led the game finishing the first quarter at 28-22. During the entire duration of the 1st quarter, Orlando Magic showed the crowd that it was their night to win by not letting the opponent outscore them even once.
But the second quarter was the time for the Heat to bounced back and score more points. Two minutes after the start of the 2nd quarter, the Heat outscored the Magic. It was Ellington's three-points shot, Richarson's three-points and jump shots and Johnson's driving layup shot that made the team led at 31-32. After that, the Heat retained their lead and did not let the Magic outscore them again. The Heat finished at halftime with a score 54-49.
Heading into the 3rd quarter of the game, the Heat was consistent in outscoring the Magic managing a seven-point lead, 75-68. But in the last quarter, the home squad was able to survive after four minutes of action, with the help of Isaac, Simmons, and Biyombo's scoring shots.
In the end, the Magic was able to survive and won the game against the Heat with a final score, 93-90.
This was the second winning game by Orlando Magic after their game against the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night, 112-89.
Aaron Gordon scored 19 points
Aaron Gordon was the number one contributor of points to the Magic in Saturday's game.
He was consistent in leading his team to score just as he performed in their previous game against the Mavericks.
Aaron scored 19 points within 21 minutes of play time. He also added six rebounds and one assist. He registered a shooting percentage of 64 from the field goal, making 9-of-14 field goal shots.
The remaining four players of the Magic who contributed double-scoring to the team were Jonathan Isaac, Jonathon Simmons, Terrence Rose and Arron Afflalo.
Isaac scored 13 points in 24 minutes while Simmons scored 12 points in the same 24 minutes. Terrence Rose contributed 11 points while Arron Aflalo made a total of 10 points for the Magic.
Josh Richardson led the Heat
In Saturday night’s game, Josh Richardson led the Heat in points. He scored 19 points in 29 minutes off the bench. He also added two rebounds, four assist and two steals for the team. He registered a shooting percentage of 54 percent from the field and 75 percent from the three-point line.
Other players of the Heat who contributed double-digit points were Hassan Whiteside and Dion Waiters with 17 points each. Aside from his big contribution in points, Hassan Whiteside also helped the team more with his 15 rebounds.
Whiteside had a shooting percentage of 62 from the field, making 8-of-13 field goal shots while Dion Waiters registered a shooting percentage of 56 percent from the field. Dion also perfected his free throw attempts, making 6-of-6 free throws.
