Just a few years ago, NaVorro Bowman was considered one of the best linebackers in the NFL. Today, the San Francisco 49ers decided to cut ties with the man who was a leader in their defense for fews. Bowman accumulated numerous accolades in his illustrious career with the 49ers, including three Pro Bowl appearances. Injuries have derailed some of his career, but when healthy, Bowman still plays at an extremely High Level. And he's healthy right now. At just 29 years old, Bowman has a lot to offer for Nfl Teams looking for a linebacker. Let's take a look at five teams that should be looking to add the talented defender.

1. Washington Redskins

It's really hard to ignore the fact that the Redskins could easily be on top of the NFL standings right now with a road win that they probably should have had against the Chiefs. Still, teams should always be looking to improve, and linebacker is an area where Washington could use some help. Bowman, who requested a trade from the 49ers, will be looking to play for a contender, and the Redskins fit the bill.

2. Houston Texans

There might not be another team in the NFL that needs defenders more than Houston right now. J.J. Watt and Whitney Mercilus will be out for a while, and linebacker Brian Cushing won't be back until December. Who could be more perfect to fill one of those gaps than NaVorro Bowman, who has plenty of experience as an elite linebacker.

3. Oakland Raiders

One of the bigger question marks in Oakland is at linebacker, where the team is weakest. NaVorro Bowman would be an immediate starter, and he would also have a chance to play with a contender. In addition, he wouldn't have to move too far away to get to Oakland, where he would have some familiarity. It would be a mistake if the Raiders didn't pursue a player like Bowman.

4. Buffalo Bills

Would you rather have Ramon Humber, Preston Brown, or NaVorro Bowman at linebacker? You tell me. The Bills defense is already playing at an extremely high level without a ton of high priced free agents, but Bowman would only make it even better. In addition, at 3-2 and leading the AFC East, Buffalo is a playoff contender that could be attractive.

Unfortunately, many free agents refuse to move to Buffalo, but if the Bills pursue him with enough interest, he could change his mind.

5. Carolina Panthers

There's one reason for Carolina's appearance on this list, and his name is Luke Kuechly. If he misses any time at all, the Panthers will be left without a major part of their defense. An experienced player like Bowman would be able to step in and contribute right away, and potentially take over the role Kuechly was playing in the defense.

It's not clear yet who will win the Bowman sweepstakes, but you can bet that a lot of NFL teams will be after him in the next few days.
