Two weeks of the 2017 NFL season are in the books, and already the Super Bowl odds are starting to sway for many teams. Sometimes the reaction, or overreaction, to a team's results after just two games can be a bit exaggerated. However, some stats prove that sometimes two games can make a season, at least that is when it comes to making the playoffs and the Super Bowl.

A 0-2 start spells doom 91% of the time

After two weeks several teams are sitting at 2-0 on the season, while several are staring at a 0-2 mark. With 14 games left on the schedule, does it matter what happened after the first two games?

Unfortunately, history shows us that it does. Oddsshark indicates that since 2007 83 teams have started the season 0-2. Only 9.2 percent of them went on to make it to the postseason. Right now the New York Giants, New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals, Indianapolis Colts, L.A. Chargers, Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers are all still winless on the season. Can they turn their campaign around and make a run towards the playoffs? Yes, they can, but they need to win next weekend!

There is hope, that is if you don't start 0-3

If fans of the 0-2 teams out there are looking for a silver lining, here you go. The 2007 New York Giants started the season 0-2 and went on to win the Super Bowl.

The Dallas Cowboys also pulled off the feat back in 1993. The Boys started the season 0-2, yet they went on to win Super Bowl XXVIII. A big reason Dallas started winless in their first two games was they were without Hall of Fame running Emmitt Smith. At the time Smith was holding out due to contract issues. When Smith returned, Dallas went 12-2, finishing the regular season at 12-4 and secured home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Here is one more to help fans not lose the faith before October even arrives. The 2001 New England Patriots started 0-2 on the season, lost Drew Bledsoe to injury and had to go with some unknown quarterback named Tom Brady, and still went on to defeat the St. Louis Rams in the Super Bowl. There you go! Oh, by the way, for all the fans of the 0-2 teams out there, you really want your squad to win this week.

Teams that start 0-3 have a 3.5 percent chance of making the playoffs.

Updated Super Bowl odds

The odds to win Super Bowl 52 have changed quite a bit over the past two weeks. The biggest move has been the Detroit Lions. The Lions were 80-1 back in June. By Week 1 they leveled off to 60-1. Today, Oddsshark has the Lions currently at 33-1, which gives Detroit the biggest positive leap so far this season.

In the trending the wrong way category, the Indianapolis Colts win the award hands down. The Colts had Super Bowl visions in their heads during the summer months, however, without Andrew Luck, Indy is sputtering. The once 25-1 odds have fallen to 2500-1 and may get worse after Week 3. It seems like it may be a long year for Chuck Pagano and the Colts.
