On Friday night, the No. 14 Miami Hurricanes continued their perfect start to the season with a win against the Duke Blue Devils. Playing away from home, Miami received a big performance from quarterback Malik Rosier as well as receiver Ahmonn Richards. The Miami Hurricanes were able to jump out to a 14-3 in the first quarter. Quarterback Malik Rosier go things going, throwing a 27-yard touchdown pass to Braxton Berrios early in the quarter.

Four minutes later, Rosier ran it in himself for the one-yard TD score. Duke would answer with a 27-yard field goal. The two teams would trade field goals in the second quarter and Miami held a 17-6 advantage.

In the second half, the Duke Blue Devils were shutout. While the Hurricanes also failed to score in the third quarter, they put two more touchdowns on the board in the fourth. One of those came on a 49-yard pass from Rosier to Ahmmon Richards. The other was on an impressive 50-yard run from Travis Homer. When all was said and done, Miami came away with a dominant 31-6 victory over a team considered one of the best in the nation defensively.

Rosier would finish the game having completed 15-of-26 passes for 270 yards and two touchdowns.

He also had one interception. Rosier had 45 yards on the ground and a touchdown there as well. Richards led the receiving core with 106 yards and a touchdown on three catches, while Mark Walton led the rushing attack with 17 carries and 51 yards. Rosier added 45 yards while Travis Homer added another 43.

Walton also had 79 receiving yards but had to leave the game during the fourth quarter due to an injury.

The Hurricanes' defense also stepped up in this latest win as they prevented Duke from converting many of their third-down opportunities. The Blue Devils converted only five of the 19 third downs they had and finished with 349 yards for the game.

Standings and what's next

Friday night's victory brings the Miami Hurricanes to 3-0 overall and gives them their first conference win of the college football season.

Next up for the Hurricanes will be an away matchup with the Florida State Seminoles. Game time is set for 3:30 PM ET next Saturday.

With the loss, the Duke Blue Devils fall to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference. Duke will battle the Virginia Cavaliers next Saturday at 12:20 PM ET at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville.
