The college football Top 25 rankings for Week 5 have arrived and once again a whole lot of shuffling has occurred! With several Top 25 teams tasting defeat this weekend, the list of the top teams in the land has once again shifted. The biggest winners of the week in terms of moving upward were the Georgia Bulldogs and Tcu Horned Frogs.

New Top 10 twist

While the top five teams in the country remained the same in the Week 5 rankings as they did in Week 4, two newbies came crashing into the Top 10 rankings.

The TCU Horned Frogs jumped up from No. 16 to the new No.

9 team in the land after thrashing Oklahoma State on the road by the final of 44-31. Tailback Darius Anderson ran for a career-high 160 yards and three touchdowns, while quarterback Kenny Hill passed for 228 yards for the Horned Frogs. TCU improved to 4-0 on the season and 1-0 in the Big-12.

The Georgia Bulldogs jumped from No. 11 to No. 7 in the latest AP rankings on the heels of taking down Mississippi State Saturday afternoon 31-3. Freshman QB Jake Fromm threw a pair of touchdown passes as he once again showed poise playing in a huge game. Once the Dawgs jumped out to a quick lead, the defense stifled MSU on offense - limiting the Bulldogs to 280 total yards.

Alabama still favored, Penn State, Michigan odds increase

The Alabama Crimson Tide are still the overwhelming favorites to win the NCAA football championship this upcoming January, however, a few teams are drawing a bit more interest from the gambling public.

The Michigan Wolverines were listed anywhere between 20-30/1 back in June but they have now jumped up to 10/1 odds.

The Wolverines have surprised with some of the Michigan faithful as to how good they have been so far in 2017, especially on defense. Michigan has 10 new starters on defense, yet they are off to a better start than they were last season when they had several All-Big Ten and All-American players on the defensive side of the ball.

Two other teams climbing the charts are Oklahoma and Penn State. The Sooners were 25/1 to win the title this season before the season began. They are now up to 7/1. Penn State, like Michigan, currently sits at 10/1 odds to be crowned champions at season's end - which is a nice jump from 22/1 back in August.
