isaiah thomas is reaching out to his new team after sending a short but motivational message to LeBron James. King James is currently on the second leg of his Asian Tour but the Cavaliers star still found time to thank his fans in Manila for their support. Isaiah took this opportunity to comment on the picture saying "Let's getit!!!!" This is the second time the two NBA stars are reaching out to each other after the revelation of the blockbuster trade.
Isaiah Thomas, the unwilling participant in the said blockbuster trade has come to terms with the decision and is looking forward to playing in the upcoming NBA season.
During the aftermath of the trade, Thomas said he was deeply hurt by the Boston Celtics' decision to let him go. Celtics' general manager Danny Ainge, on the other hand, admitted that part of the decision to trade him is the recurring hip injury that started in March.
Recap of the blockbuster trade
The Cleveland Cavaliers agreed to trade Kyrie Irving for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, and Ante Zizic until they realized the extent of Thomas' injury; an obvious setback that didn't seem to concern the team during talks about the trade. Later on, it was the Cavs who went after Boston, asking for an additional player to compensate the injury. In the end, Boston gave their 2020 second draft pick through Miami Heat to complete the deal.
In his interview with ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Thomas said: "I am not damaged, I'll be back, and I'll be the same player." he further added that there is no indication that his injury will have a long term effect. He further added that it's not even something that indicates his inability to be back in the game or his injury messing his career.
LeBron James' Asian Tour
LeBron James, on the other hand, spent the remaining days prior to training camp to complete his Asian Tour. On Saturday, September 2, 2017, James was in Manila for his exhibition game with thousands of fans attending the event. According to the Cavaliers Nation, this is his third time visiting the Philippines and the first one since canceling "Battle the Doubt Night" in 2016.
The NBA training camp will start on the third week of September in which, Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, and Ante Zizic will start their workout with the team. The Boston Celtics have introduced Kyrie Irving over the weekend wherein, the former Cavs player praised his former team and for the first time he addressed LeBron James and his exemplary traits as a teammate. He further confirmed that his request for a trade is motivational.
