isaiah thomas is expected to begin his Cavaliers duties by attending LeBron James' minicamp on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at the University of California - Santa Barbara. According to the Cleveland, James is hosting the minicamp as part of the team's workout and practice prior to next week's NBA training camp. Coach Tyrone Lue and the rest of the management team are also expected to attend and observe during the training.

The Cavs franchise is no doubt in transition after Kyrie Irving's departure. The blockbuster trade that brought them Isaiah Thomas, Ante Zizic and Jae Crowder shook the team's carefully built legacy.

Nevertheless, these players are nothing short of great talents and that is where the Cavs will begin; capitalizing on newly acquired talent and expertise.

LeBron James' rumored Lakers move

Amid rumors that LeBron James is planning on joining the Los Angeles Lakers next season, it looks like the Cavaliers star is committed to helping his team achieve the goal of the championship this season. Isaiah Thomas, on the other hand, recently went live on Instagram showing him and his sons playing on the Cavs court. Thomas took the opportunity to send a subtle message saying, “I will average at least 25, I could do that in my sleep. I’m a professional scorer, I do that in my sleep.”

Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers are silent about Isaiah Thomas' hip injury.

Since his introduction two weeks ago, the team has avoided questions about the injury but stated they will not give a timeline for recovery. Tyron Lue, however, said that it's likely that Isaiah will not be able to play in the early part of the season.

Isaiah Thomas injury

Isaiah has since confirmed that his injury is not career ending and is confident that he will be back and able to play like he used to.

Noting what Thomas said, "I am not damaged. I'll be back and I'll be the same player," is an assurance to the Cavs that he plans on working with the team.

In July, the Boston Celtics GM Danny Ainge confirmed that Thomas' hip injury did not need a surgery. An indication that it was not extensive and can be fixed by rehabilitation.

During the trade talks, Ainge came clean to the media and admitted that Thomas' injury played a role in the blockbuster trade that sent him to the Cleveland Cavaliers and Kyrie Irving to the Boston Celtics.

The Cleveland Cavaliers will start the NBA season without Kyrie Irving against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.
