The Dallas Cowboys started their season successfully, beating the Giants 19-3 on Sunday. Last year's Nfc East champs played dominantly on defense, leaving the Giants without a TD and only one made field goal. The Cowboys scored only one TD, but it was enough to beat the New York Giants in week 1 of the 2017 NFL season.

Jason Witten and Dan Bailey win the NFC East matchup for the Cowboys

In the first quarter, all we saw was a Cowboys' 51-yard field goal made by Dan Bailey. The New York Giants had to punt the ball on all of their first half drives. In the second quarter, we saw the only TD.

Jason Witten caught a 12 yard TD pass from Dak Prescott to make the score 13-0 for the Cowboys. Witten, already the franchise leader in catches, now has 1,096 receptions for 11,947 yards in his career. Dan Bailey made another field goal with 5 seconds left to play in the first half to make the score 16-0 for the Cowboys at the half time.

In the third quarter, the Giants scored their only points of the match. Giants kicker Aldrick Rosas made a 25-yard field goal to make the score 16-3. With 1 minute and 55 seconds left to play in the fourth quarter, Bailey made a 36-yard field goal to make it 19-3 for the Cowboys. Both of the defenses played very well in this match, not allowing their opponent to move the ball down the field and score points.

New York Giants host the Detroit Lions in week 2, while the Cowboys go to Denver

The New York Giants will host the Detroit Lions in week 2 of the 2017 NFL Season. This will be a Monday Night Football game and a very important match for the Giants. The Detroit Lions beat the Arizona Cardinals 35-23 on Sunday and are looking to continue their winning ways. In their week 2 matchup, the Cowboys will face the Broncos on Sunday. The Cowboys are the favorites, but Denver''s defense is great and it will be interesting to see this young Dallas' team face the Super Bowl 50 champions, led by Trevor Siemian.
