Just two months after being let go from Fox News due to allegations of sexual harassment going public, former network host Bill O'Reilly appeared along side Sean Hannity. Without wasting anytime, the duo ripped into the National Football League (NFL) and their players for protesting the national anthem.

O'Reilly on Hannity

The biggest story over the last week has been the feud between Donald Trump and the NFL over whether or not players have the right to kneel in protest during the national anthem.

It started last Friday while the president was campaigning for Luther Strange in Alabama to fill a vacant seat in the Senate. During his speech, Trump labeled the NFL players who protest the national anthem as a "son of a bitch" who deserve to be fired for their alleged "disrespect" of the United States. In response, the majority of the mainstream media, much of the sports world, and Trump's usual critics were quick to lash out, resulting in over 200 NFL players taking part in a protest during Sunday's games. Though the commander in chief faced backlash, two big time names in conservative media came to his defense, which was apparent during the September 26 edition of "Hannity" on Fox News.

Joining Fox News host Sean Hannity on Tuesday night was former longtime host Bill O'Reilly, who made his first appearance on the network since being fired due to allegedly paying off women who accused him of sexual harassment. Within minutes, O'Reilly didn't miss a beat, and came to Donald Trump's defense in his grudge with the NFL. Highlighting the first game on Sunday that took place in London between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Baltimore Raven, O'Reilly said, "I was angry and sad because I don’t believe those players know what they are doing."

Not stopping there, Bill O'Reilly pointed out that there were American troops stationed in Afghanistan, not to far from where the game was played in London.

O'Reilly then brought up how horrible the soldiers must feel if they watched the game and saw "players disrespect the country and the flag on foreign soil."

Double down

Bill O'Reilly went on to sarcastically mock the political left for pushing the narrative that the United States is an "evil country where white supremacists stalk innocent blacks." Sean Hannity also chimed in, claiming that Democrats and liberals have used race as a "wedge issue" that was "dividing the country."

The two agreed before pushing back against the latest talking points used by many on the left, most notably the terms "white privilege" and "white supremacy," to describe the conservative right.

Next up

While it appears that Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity continue to stand by Donald Trump's side, the president has many other issues to deal with besides his fight with professional sports stars. With an approval rating of just 35 percent, only time will tell if the billionaire real estate mogul will be able to bounce back.
